Bbott 1 Posted February 18, 2013 A lot of people say the recoil of the Glock 22 is bad. Would anyone buy a Glock 22 over a Glock 17 or 19?
blksheep 466 Posted February 18, 2013 I have a 22, 34 (longer slightly heavier 17) and a 19. 22 has a little more muzzle flip than the 17 or 19 but it not bad at all.
DMahan 0 Posted February 18, 2013 I've never shot a Glock 17, or Glock 19... however, I do own a Glock 22 and haven't noticed any recoil problems.
Bbott 1 Posted February 18, 2013 I own a M&P 9 and I'm trying to figure out my next gun. Permit expires soon and there is slim pickings because of the firearm demand. Everyone seems to have the Glock 22 in stock, everyone is out of the 17 and 19.
cliffwang 0 Posted February 18, 2013 I have both the Glock 17 and the Glock 22. I always felt that the Glock 22 does have more recoil than the 17 but always figured that the recoil was because of the larger .40 round vs the 9mm. By no means is the recoil not manageable in any way though.
blksheep 466 Posted February 18, 2013 Get whats avail. You can get the 22 buy a longer barrel and slide and run a 35 set up.
Howard 538 Posted February 18, 2013 Just bought a new G22 Gen4 and find I shoot it better than I did a G17 gen3 FWIW.
diamondd817 823 Posted February 18, 2013 The .40 no doubt has more recoil. But the only time you will notice is if you keep switching between the .40 and 9mm. If you are always shooting .40 it won't even be a factor. The Glock 22 is the LE gold standard.
ChrisJM981 924 Posted February 18, 2013 Shoot it before you buy. I had a Glock 22 and used a Wolf Distributors .40 to 9mm conversion barrel. Ultimately I sold the Glock 22 and got a Glock 19 instead. The 22 was too big for my hobbit hands. Again, shoot before you buy.
Howard 538 Posted February 18, 2013 Very good point about try before you buy. I bought a G22 after trying a G23 and then for size comparison a G17 and G19, I found that I had a better grip with the full size even though I don't have large hands. It all comes down to personal preference.
zoid 24 Posted February 18, 2013 As others have said the 40 will always be snappier than the 9. 40 is by nature a snappy round which is why I don't like it and never intend on owning a 40. Personally I would take the 17 over the 22 cause of my bias toward 9mm. Glocks do a great job managing recoil so in 9mm you really can appreciate the design.
