MidwestPX 172 Posted October 31, 2013 First round of these are now available: http://midwestpx.com/product_info.php?products_id=734 Because of how we're making them, we're making them in batches so unlike our other limited capacity offerings, these may go in and out of stock as we get them made. The plan is to offer colors once we see how well the black ones sell. Baseplates are affixed with 1/16" rollpins that can be drifted out after depressing the internal lockplate. These aren't blocked and won't take more than 15 rounds in any configuration so they don't need to be permanently sealed.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted October 31, 2013 Will they seat properly on a closed bolt?
MidwestPX 172 Posted October 31, 2013 Will they seat properly on a closed bolt? No. As I'd mentioned previously, I've found that with extreme wear (very rare because the feed lips usually break before this point), a mag guaranteed to load against a closed bolt can eventually take an extra round. There are too many variables between mag catch location, LPK, receivers, etc. for me to overcome all of the tolerance stack up, guarantee loading against a closed bolt, and maintain long term legality. If loading against a closed bolt is a critical factor, download the magazines by one or two rounds (preferably two so it keeps the top round on the same side for training purposes). Factory 30rd mags take 31 in order to load against a closed bolt and even then, it's a fight when the gun is warm.

plode 0 Posted October 31, 2013 Another question...out of curiosity... why are you still using roll pins on the base plates if they can't hold more than 15 rounds?
MidwestPX 172 Posted October 31, 2013 Another question...out of curiosity... why are you still using roll pins on the base plates if they can't hold more than 15 rounds? Because the walls of the Gen2?MOE PMAG are too thin to provide enough material for the baseplate to slide on to and stay on when loaded. Magpul did away with the thick ribbed PMAGs back in 2009 and those we were able to cut down and have baseplates slide on and stay on without pins. bhunted 887 Posted November 1, 2013 Why so expensive ? Really? Specialty item? No more than others.... It's fair. Be thankful someone caters to us Jersians.... Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk 2 Pro
MidwestPX 172 Posted November 1, 2013 Why so expensive ? When we first started cutting down PMAGs a couple years ago, the original 5/10/15/19 round curved stubby was $23.00. These have been listed at $23.50 which account for slightly higher labor costs to make them.
