Was wondering what are the opinions here on the Sog trident mini as an EDC? Is it nj compliant with the assisted opening technology ?

I do like the built in line cutter. Or am I better off with something like a kershaw 1/2 ton since I am going to lose it eventually anyway . ;)

Again thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts and opinions !

Your good. Looks like a nice grip on that.

If you're actually going to use it, and that doesn't mean cutting a box every 3 weeks like most of the people who have a knife clipped to their pocket, I would suggest a cheaper knife as you will either lose it or bang it up. If you're ok with that, then get something nice but I use my knives mostly for work and I never spend more than $30 on each.

You will rarely see me with something else other than a Kershaw. Affordable, sharp, and easy to sharpen - I love them.

I've carried a Sogzilla for awhile now and I love it. It's cheap and stays very sharp for awhile. There is a large and smaller version. It's unassisted but is a quick knife and has a very nice deep carry pocket clip like many other Sog knives. It's one of those knives you can clip to your pocket and almost forget its there. If it gets lost your only out 30 bucks or so.

I had one in my cart the other day but didn't buy it

I have the SOG Flashback with Black Tanto blade and love it. Claim to fame as the fastest assist legal all over knife out there. Sharp like a razor and yes, I shaved with it.

I'm late to the conversation but have a few SOGs and like them.  I prefer my fixed blades from them (Seal Pup Elite straight edge, and NW Ranger 2).  Both really nice and tough for all around camp work.

As for folder, I have an Aegis which I really like and want to love but it has too much movement in the blade because it has no liners (the same thing that makes it so light though).  That said, I do really like the deployment and love that there are less parts than other types of deployment systems.  I tend to keep it as a backup around the house or in a range bag or emergency go bag.

Gotta say that I LOVE the push button 'unlock' feature that they use.  It just feels intuitive and no frills, also allowing for one handed closure if needed.  It works great with my big hands.

I've carried a large sogzilla for a while now and really like it. The deep carry clip is great and for the price you can't beat it. It'll stay In my edc rotation for a long time I think.

Have a half ton. It is a POS. It won't hold an edge for beans. Marginal steel without a good heat treat. The tolerances on the liner lock are also pushing it. I suspect it will present safety issues without too many cycles. Resharpening it is kind of a pita too. Which is surprising as cheap knives that dull easily usually sharpen easily too. I'm very leery of kershaw's Chinese product.

I have a Gerber with a 3" blade for work. Has F.A.S.T. ( forward assist spring technology) blade open.

Great little knife. I don't leave home without it. ;)
