karlkurtz32 0 Posted November 21, 2013 I was wondering if anyone had ideas on custom targets/silhouettes. I have free time and am always looking for a reason to fire up Photoshop.
Malice4you 627 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) I've created a few different ones, nothing special, but usually for 100yd shooting with my .223/.22/.17 rifles. Since I'm lazy, I put a few up, and don't have to keep changing targets. I've found I need to make the colors kinda light to spot hits, which can make different colors difficult to discern...especially on the number game below. I don't know how well the smaller targets will work for scopes of 9x and below...these are the small versions of a few I've made. Google image search is very helpful for finding almost anything. I've used pictures of playing cards, sports balls, balloons, screenshots from games or movies...anything that might be mildly interesting to shoot. Clip are is often 'clean' so you don't have to try to remove annoying backgrounds. Things like the balloons below were greeting card borders. I'd try to print them on a laser printer, since that won't waste much ink. I have a color laser, so I do color prints usually edited for larger files in a below post... TOMMY R 24 Posted November 22, 2013 My favorite targets are simple and effective for me . I take a piece of cardboard and a hot glue gun I take soda, milk, any plastic cap off anything and glue them to the board. They are tiny to large take quite a few hits and drop to the ground for easy clean up. I really like the larger coffee lids for distance. They come in all colors that make it hard or easy to see. Try shooting a bottle cap with a 22 at a hundred yards.
karlkurtz32 0 Posted November 24, 2013 Wow, thanks for the replies, guys. Yeah, I guess you can pretty much find anything on Google. Maybe I'll just make some targets sporting the NJ Gun Forums text to represent a little bit (if that's ok).

Malice4you 627 Posted January 5, 2015 (wow, I swore this topic was a lot more recent than this...) After Candyman asked about those carnival-style red star airgun targets in another thread, I was thinking about sharing more of my custom targets. I get bored of the more common targets out there, so I often just print my own. I try to create stuff that will be slightly more challenging for me. (Often, I've been wildly optimistic about my abilities.) I also used to cram too many targets onto a single page, so I've gone back and modified some of the old targets for longer range shooting... I size my targets for use with my HP color laser, so the borders are rather narrow (usually 1/4" border) - possibly too narrow for some printers, but nothing too important should get cut off on those printers (I hope). The files are also typically exactly the dimensions of an 8.5x11 sheet of paper, so your printer software may say something about the file being larger than the printable area. Just print the file actual size, otherwise the sizes on the pages will be inaccurate. One_crazy_dude 1 Posted January 6, 2015 I made my own splatter targets. I used colored construction paper from the dollar store, cheap packing tape from the dollar store and cheap spray paint from lowes. I put packing tape over the construction paper then spray painted over the tape (you don't want the best paint that sticks well. The cheap flat black works the best) then sprayed a few white dots and valla.
