carl_g 568 Posted December 26, 2013 Any Feedback on this Shotgun? It's 179. Semi auto. I assume this is NJ Legal? I know nothing about shotguns.. Appreciate the feedback. http://www.slickguns.com/product/ati-tacsx2-12ga-185-bbl-tactical-semi-auto-shotgun-atigtacsx2-24999-
peterk2000 0 Posted December 26, 2013 It looks ok but I would suggest you spend a bit more on a mossberg or remington. I took a chance last year and bought a Bersa Thunder 22 as an alternative to a Walther PPK/22. Shoots fine and all but the build quality is bad and I never use it. FLHX 1 Posted December 26, 2013 I was looking at this also. I found some info that a guy wrote about it. He paid 250 and he was happy! I just received one today...Overall look, feel no issues.the rubber cap on the bolt handle is a little weird, wonder how long it will last?On assembly, I found the barrel on my example would not fully seat. The fore end would not seat in its channel on the front of the receiver.I traced it to the fitment of the 'tang' on the rear of the barrel being a bit oversize.it would only enter in the receiver cut about 3mm... inside the receiver cut there was a small raised burr inside the milled slot from the tang.Used a curved die mold riffler file to smooth out the burr, and gave the tang a few file strokes on each side, and deburred it.This got me to half-way, so i know it was in the right direction.Few more file strokes, and viola! fully seated barrel.Cleaned it up a bit, cold blued the tang and put it back together.I loaded some dove loads 2-3/4 for initial trial.took a second to figure out 'sequence' to get shells chambered....sort of a weird sequence with the shell release, etc.. (any better instructions on this ?????)I attempted to fire the first ones just off hand, not shouldering the gun.it would not cycle these loads semi-auto.I found some old pheasant loads ... high brass, they would work...went back to dove loads and shouldered the gun... the gun would cycle then ... that inertia thing i think once some cycles are on the gun, it will feed anything....any 'tips' for installing a sling swivel stud in the butt stock.... i believe the magazine cap can be drilled-tapped for a stud...any 'tips' for lubing this thing? should the gas cylinder be lubed, OD of mag tube??for the money (I) paid... (249 + 15 +23) methinks o-k... just did not expect to have to 'gunsmith' it from the get-go
Frank Rizzo 59 Posted December 26, 2013 Looks like a sweet deal, couldnt see why NJ would have a problem with it.

Sixtytwo327 14 Posted December 28, 2013 Don't go cheap on a semi. Save your impulse buys for the used rack at Cabelas. I'm not saying you've gotta spend H&H money to get a quality SG, but just... don't do it.

I'm not saying you've gotta spend H&H money to get a quality SG, but just... don't do it. i agree... Semi-Auto Shotguns can be finicky SOB's, I'd at least wait for some reviews before dropping 200 bucks.. If it's a good semi auto, there is no reason for it to be that cheap.. it could be 400 bucks and it would still be cheap.
carl_g 568 Posted December 28, 2013 I should have bought it. A bunch of guys on arfcom got these and they are suspiciously similar to the CZ 712/720 series. They are both made in Turkey..possibly even in the same factory. If the reviews come back positive from those guys and it is offered again at this price I'll grab one. RUTGERS95 890 Posted December 30, 2013 a guy whose son plays hockey with mine has one and loves it....let us know if it goes back up, I'll buy one as well

rush1329 1 Posted March 4, 2014 PSA has them for $230 and it comes with a $30 gift card http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/firearms/shotguns/ati-tacsx2-12ga-18-5-bbl-tactical-semi-auto-shotgun-atigtacsx2.html
OfcrFek 21 Posted March 4, 2014 I have such strange mixed feelings about PSA... I love them for their prices.... but then I hate them because it takes a month for whatever I ordered to actually get to my house.
blksheep 466 Posted March 4, 2014 True, but good things come to those who wait.

iCARRY 0 Posted March 5, 2014 I ordered one, if I don't like it, I am sure I could sell it for very close to what I paid.
1563621 388 Posted March 24, 2014 Stay away from ATI, Far away. Buy a used 870 or 590. Never have a problem. Why should I get out the file to get a 12 GA. to work?
Scorpio64 5,147 Posted March 24, 2014 Edited because I'm a moron who cannot keep track of where imports come from.
iCARRY 0 Posted March 24, 2014 Thought they were made in turkey
Scorpio64 5,147 Posted March 25, 2014 Thought they were made in turkey Yeah, shotguns made in Turkey. Apparently I was confused because of something I read last year about ATI smuggling Chinese components into the US.
BlueLineFish 615 Posted March 25, 2014 If you want another option look at the lion x4 and x6 semi autos. A little more but seem pretty solid
mb104 0 Posted April 5, 2014 Love the Lion! Excellent shotgun and priced right. I got mine from http://www.gdousa.com. They are based out of New Hope, PA, right across from Lambertville NJ.
