Aim Surplus suspend's all AR Lower shipments to NJ

Until further notice Aim Surplus is suspending all shipments of AR lowers pending the go ahead from the NJ state police or the AG's office.

 

This is due to the changes in the laws of some ban states.  They have requested more info from NJSP that no laws were changed and that AR lowers are still legal in NJ

That's certainly their choice, but I'd be concerned with losing permanent business. If it were me, I'd have made sure of the laws "before" the New Year begins, rather than shutting down opportunities to make money!

NJSP returned my call and said they will answer Aim's questions. SO hopefully this will be resolved soon.

This isn't the first time they have acted like this. They also made a rule about ammo only shipping to ffls in nj at some point too. They might have rescinded it, I'm too busy shopping elsewhere.

Example. A distributor i deal with will not sell any Non compliant firearms to NJ dealers. They were sued by NYS and they won but it cost then 400k in legal bills.. I guess if you are a company thats worried about a state suing you it might make you think twice or just take extra care with dealing with people in that state.

I think there is more to it.  I was going back and forth with them on ar15.com and they locked the thread when I asked who the vendors were that settled with San Fran for selling legal hardware.  I think I am done with them as well....shame, good stuff at good prices

Im sure it cost NY 10 times more.... This is what happens when the government overreaches. FFL are federal why NYS thought they could sue a distributor for following federal laws boggles me

I agree but aren't we doing the same thing with ARs in this state as we circumvented via the 'name only' suit by Nappen?  What those vendors did was legal, LEGAL so it should not have been an issue

I don't think it's the same
It wasn't just the "name only" suit that saved us, it was the neutering of the rifle via the evil features list, an XM15 with a lug and fh is just as illegal as the banned by name AR15 , Verniero stated as much when he wrote the " substantially identical " guidelines

I understand what they did was legal , but I also see that it was a slick way of trying to say FU to the man

44mag, Copes, and exilemachine were sued by SF for selling rebuild kits.  Which were obviously legal since the state had to pass AB48 to make them illegal during the last legislative session.

No.  Rebuild kits had/have multiple legitimate uses such as building limited cap mags, repairing legally owned pre-ban mags, and for use when out of state.  The CA AG even put it in writing that they were legal because of those uses.
