Tallday 10 Posted January 17, 2014 http://www.surplusammo.com/30-06-springfield-150gr-sp-prvi-partizan-20-rounds/ you can shoot most 150gn ammo in a Garand anything bigger may hurt the op-rod and gas system... it was designed to shoot 150gn
Tallday 10 Posted January 17, 2014 I m sure if you ask in the market place "WTB Garand ammo" someone will sell you some CMP bulk at a slightly higher price. If not I have some I can give you to take your new Garand out for a spin.
blizzzarddemon 0 Posted January 17, 2014 Do you have to be a member if CMP to purchase ammo from them and what about the gas plug from garand gear http://www.garandgear.com/m1garand/detail/33-springs-and-things/flypage/75-ported-gas-plug?sef=hcfp Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
blizzzarddemon 0 Posted January 17, 2014 That plug says you don't have to adjust it just install and use any 30 06 Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
thegerb50 0 Posted January 17, 2014 I did a lot of gas plug research but never bought one. If I decide to it would be the garand gear one. For now I'm just buying ammo from the CMP. and yes you need to be a manner of an affiliated club/agency to buy am of rom the CMP. It's easy though. The garand collectors association is cheap and easy to join and that makes you eligible. http://www.thegca.org
WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot 358 Posted January 17, 2014 Purchasing ammo from the CMP just requires snail mailing in an order form with proof of U.S. citizenship and membership in CMP-affiliated club. I recommend Garand Collector's Assoc ($25/year) or Glock Shooting Sports Foundation if you want the side benefits there. No need for the FFL, FPID, or proof of marksmanship required when buying a CMP rifle. My last order from CMP took one-month turnaround time. After initial order, you can order directly online from their e-store which is avoids the snail mail. On a side note, if you need or can or two of Greek HXP, PM me. Extremely accurate and a good price new manufactured. Greek surplus from the CMP is great stuff. Just do yourself one favor, if you ever come across any Iranian surplus just keep walking. blizzzarddemon 0 Posted January 17, 2014 Nick what about the gas plugal from garand gear they have test data showing it working with a lot of commercial ammo and there is no adjusting it Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
T Bill 649 Posted January 17, 2014 Garand Gear Plug makes the gas chamber bigger changing the pressure curve. Schuster is an adjustable valve. I prefer an adjustable valve. Can dial it in just to the sweet spot. After a while you know just where to tune it to with different ammo. Takes like 30 seconds once you get used to it.
