Motofan 10 Posted February 22, 2014 Does anyone own a laserlyte 9mm cartridge ? What are your thoughts? worth the money ? I read reviews of them not working after a few hours. Thinking I would use it with the shootoff webcam freeware. https://github.com/phrack/ShootOFF/wiki
FLHX 1 Posted February 22, 2014 I have the universal one and I like it a lot. I have used it for a few weeks now and I haven't had any problems with it. It evens comes with a second set of batteries. I use it in my 1911 and Glocks in all calibers. I like it to dry fire with it a lot more than without it. http://www.amazon.com/LaserLyte-Pistol-Laser-Trainer-45-Caliber/dp/B002N2B0DO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1393038474&sr=8-3&keywords=laserlyte

Motofan 10 Posted February 22, 2014 Give that free shootoff program a try and let me know what ya think. I downloaded, scanned for virus and unzipped. It was 5 minutes to set up on my laptop.

Can you draw from a holster with the universal model ?? Does nt stick out too much ? http://www.amazon.com/LaserLyte-Pistol-Laser-Trainer-45-Caliber/dp/B002N2B0DO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1393038474&sr=8-3&keywords=laserlyte
MedicYeti 96 Posted February 22, 2014 I have one in 40 and enjoy it. I think it's a good idea. The down side is that you have to rack the slide each time or only use double action trigger pulls each time. I am looking at one of the laser guns, like the LaserLyte Trigger Time or, more likely, the SIRT training gun. These allow practice of the fundimentals as well as trigger reset and rapid follow up shots.
bhunted 887 Posted February 22, 2014 I'm considering one but not that software for a webcam you have in the video. They have a self contained unit that you can place anywhere. I'd be hesitant to shoot lasers at your favorite tv or monitor. After awhile, you might damage them.

As i understand it....You do not point the laser at the pc or monitor, you print out a target tape it to the wall and point your web cam at it. You take laser shots at the paper target and the webcam pucks up the shots.
bhunted 887 Posted February 22, 2014 Hmm... wondering about the accuracy.... Even so, means you have to be around a webcam/puter. In other words, my den is not that big...On the other hand, I have at least 26ft on my 1st floor to shoot. That's where their targeting system is worth it to me.Still can't see it being worth it for everyone. Motofan 10 Posted February 22, 2014 Lighten up francis. Can i borrow ypur lasrlyte for testing ?
FLHX 1 Posted February 22, 2014 I don't have any issues with the universal one and holstering. I just hang an IPSC style target and have at it. I wanted the universal as I use it in all calibers. I have never heard that shooting a laser at a screen will hurt it, it definitely won't hurt a tube TV no idea on a Flat screen plasma or LCD I recommend the universal one. I may go for one of their targets down the road but for now paper works fine you can see your hits in any light.
Motofan 10 Posted February 22, 2014 FLHX, Thanks. I think i'll go with the universal. Been dry firing with my new shotmaxx and figured the laserlyte would only make it that much better. Trying to beat your best draw and first shot would be enhanced by knowing your actually on target. Thanks everyone for your input

Howard 538 Posted February 22, 2014 Has anyone gotten this program to work. I installed it but while my webcam sees the target in its software when I turn on this software all I see is a blue screen inside the box where I assume the target should show up. Running Win7x64. Motofan 10 Posted February 22, 2014 Howard, in the pull down menu...go to Targets>Add Target>Simple Bullseye Score...Does it change in the screen ?
Motofan 10 Posted February 22, 2014 Liking the cans... three targets simulate steel shooting. Unfortunately I'll have to rack each shot...Until my J.M. 9mm revolver comes in !! Yeh Baby !!!
Howard 538 Posted February 22, 2014 Howard, in the pull down menu...go to Targets>Add Target>Simple Bullseye Score...Does it change in the screen ? Yes it puts that target on the screen, but I don't think it is seeing anything from the camera. If I shoot at the target where the camera is aimed there is no feedback. Motofan 10 Posted February 22, 2014 Sorry I got you into this Howard. Open source freeware is notoriously buggy., bhunted was right....I'll just go with the original Laserlyte target which you can reset with a shot to lower left corner.
Motofan 10 Posted February 23, 2014 Henry, here is the getting started guide. Not sure if it will help..not much info. Like I said earlier, my webcam is embedded into my laptop. I used a dollar store laser I got after work and it records the shots (im lookign around now for the laserlyte). Gotta be the webcam. Can you try a different usb port for the cam ? https://github.com/phrack/ShootOFF/wiki/Getting-Started
