RTSP to start indoor USPSA Matches soon!

Recommended Posts

I used to run an indoor match with 2 bays, 3 squads and 4 stages.  Shooting started at 9, out by 12.  Good movement and lots of shooting. Scorse were up before clean up was finished.

It can be done, but there needs to be a limit on shooters (10 per squad) and it needs to be run efficiently

The matches will be held in both ranges after hours . 6:00 to 10 pm. Both ranges will be used. Aaron is designing courses for the matches and will be running them.

They are hoping to start end of March early April, From the horses mouth at RTSP They were looking for someone to run matches so i got them in touch with Aaron and it seems like it may be a good fit for both Aaron and RTSP.

I'm looking forward to it. No it's not outside but it will be fun just the same.

Running an indoor match takes a certain skill set, but it can be done. At Old Bridge, we have run an indoor match for over 20 years. 4 Stages, 55-70 rounds. Courses have to 'fit' the venue. they have to be built so that you can still shoot on sight, but so that all rounds impact the backstop at safe angles. Certain things don't lend temselves so uch to indoor ranges, but the matches can still be a lot of fun and frankly shooting is better than not shooting. I would ask that RTSP not schedule the 2nd or 4th Sunday as there are a lot of people that shoot the two NJ matches on those days.

Stages can be fun with 16 rounds if built right. Equipment for USPSA does not have to cost any more than any other shooting sport. Production can be shot and won with a stock Glock and Fobus holster and 5 mags.

JIm the matches are tentatively set for the third Sunday, but they won't start until 6pm, so even if people go to the other matches they will be able to shoot this one TOO!!!

And yes indoor can work.  I have shot indoor IDPA at Somerset and Phillipsburg.  There is one big advantage of indoor too, no wind, no rain, no snow, no scorching sun ;)
