Is Beretta 96A1 locking block supposed to fall out while cleaning?

Recommended Posts

I have a NIB, recently purchased Beretta 96A1 that I've put between 400 & 500 rounds through.

Beginning with the pre shoot cleaning I keep having the locking block fall out unexpectedly while I'm handling/cleaning the barrel assembly.

It is then a time consuming process to lightly jiggle this thing back onto the barrel assembly, although it always seems to drop back in by luck.

This happens without removing the locking block pin and without me "brute forcing" it back on.

Although I have tried, I can't identify the exact position to put it to get it back in and I'm just relieved when it does eventually fall back into place.

Is this normal? Beretta's video on replacing the block suggests, but does not explicitly state that  it is not.

I'd appreciate any insight anyone can offer.
