John3754 0 Posted March 22, 2014 I've seen a few AR15s in 9mm, some even use Glock mags (which I already have a bunch of). I'd be interested in hearing opinions on this, is there any real utility to something like this, or is it just a novelty?
FLHX 1 Posted March 22, 2014 I have a JR Carbine in 9mm. Its not a true ar but it will take AR triggers and hand guards. The upper and lower are different than true ar type rifles. I like it and can be converted to 40sw and 45 acp with a caliber conversion kit. I have had mine for awhile and I haven't had a single jam or any other issue. It takes Glock 9mm mags. JRC had some issue with the first gen rifles but they have been fixed. Also their CS is very good.
blksheep 466 Posted March 22, 2014 Plumstedarms has em. Great price too. They are completely modular to ar accessories. I held one all done up and it was sweet.

I used to have a pistol caliber carbine but got rid of it when I came to the understanding that 556 an actual rifle round is less likely to penetrate post interior wall.. Additionally you get more range with an actual rifle round... Making the actual rifle round more appealing
BlueLineFish 615 Posted March 22, 2014 If you want one then get one. For a true ar 9mm don't get the jrc. Its not a real ar rifle. Look at the double diamond law enforcement supply lowers and a separate 9mm upper.
ronhonda 86 Posted March 22, 2014 JP makes a sweet 9mm ar that takes glock mags.
NYMetsFan86 9 Posted March 22, 2014 I built one a few months back with the dedicated cmmg lower. I enjoy shooting it but it becomes novelty. I built it because i like building Ar;s and I wanted to try a different caliber build and set up. I think it had more to do with personal satisfaction and I do not like the look of the JR carbines

I am looking forward to double diamond releasing more .40 and .45 bolt assemblies to start a new caliber using there glock mag lower
BlueLineFish 615 Posted March 23, 2014 I want to use the large frame lower to build a 10mm and 45 ar

emulzhn 5 Posted April 9, 2014 If you like the AR platform, then it's an awesome idea. the way it feels, holds, points and of course ... shoots... It's has an endless surplus of accessories and at least today...., exist to have a dedicated web retailer. "9mmar.com".... no relations... though... drawbacks however, as much as I do like the 9mm however for its plentiful of ammo choices, reasonable prices at current, and defense abilities, it has its shortcomings. I say this because I truly like AR, that I enjoy shooting the 5.56/223 .... and shooting a 9 out of a gun that is meant to shoot 5.56.... well.... just doesn't ..... I originally purchased mine because I was able to shoot the AR with friends at indoor ranges, specially ones that do not allow high power cartridge. You can still put all your flashlights, lasers, pointers and what have you and somewhat feel like a rifle. Ultimately, I kept mine as its fun to shoot. recoil is almost non-existent. One can easily send Many rounds down range like when using metal targets... much fun. good luck and have fun
millsan1 3 Posted April 9, 2014 Not that this really applies, but this is why I purchased a CX4. 9MM is cheap, no recoil in a rifle and it takes my Beretta mags. That being said, I too would like a 9MM AR, as I like the AR platform and enjoy shooting a cheap cartridge for fun and in competitions.

NYMetsFan86 9 Posted April 9, 2014 Rob..The upper is nothing special in particular. I opted for the CMMG bolt assembly as well. YHM 9mm barrel. The most fun thing about the build was not messing with any type of gas block since its blowback. If u use a cmmg a lower i noticed the built in feed ramps are kind of gritty. I polished them before I completed. ..love the build except It dosent look as mean with a dinky 10 round mag.You won't regret it especially of you love the feeling of firing the first successful round out of your buildSent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
nuclearheli 40 Posted April 9, 2014 Plumstedarms has em. Great price too. They are completely modular to ar accessories. I held one all done up and it was sweet. Just Right Carbine in 9mm. Of course it's been worked on a bit. Put a Timney drop in trigger 3 pound, Midwest 12" handguard, Pinned and welded EGW break, Magpul vertical grip, pistol grip and pinned Magpul Stock. TRUGLO MULTI-RETICLE/DUAL COLOR RED•DOT. Offset flip up Magpul iron sights. Using Glock 19 15 Round Magazines. Will take any Glock 9mm Magazine. Runs factory and reloads without a hitch. So much fun to shoot.
T Bill 649 Posted April 10, 2014 ^^^^^^^^^^^This. My JRC has been moded as well. Magpul fixed carbine stock, shorter stock great for quick shots, Hogue finger grip. Trigger group redone, honed, stoned and lightened, bolt as well. Handguard replaced with a solid aluminum carbine length one, thinking of going to carbon fiber. Muzzle is crowned, may magna port it (trying to stay as light as possible). Running with an old Primary Arms M4 RDS. True it's not an AR platform, but it runs smooth. Pistol caliber carbines are a lot of fun. Love my Marlin Camp 45 as well.
Rob0115 1,105 Posted April 10, 2014 JP rifles looks great. Did a config and now I just to borrow 1650 bucks.

John3754 0 Posted April 12, 2014 The JP looks sweet, the price tag is hard to swallow though. I heard someone complain that the metal mag release on the JRC chews up the polymer of the Glock mags...has anyone here experienced this?

BlueLineFish 615 Posted April 12, 2014 If i were to get a 9mm ar it would be a ddles glock small frame lower with some type of dedicated upper

BlueLineFish 615 Posted April 12, 2014 You can buy the upper and lower each complete and just slap them together
Rob0115 1,105 Posted April 14, 2014 I just paid the tax man so there's no new 9mm in my near future. Ugh.
