boo 6 Posted April 11, 2014 I take it this doesn't require the use of a "media"? Any thoughts on using this versus the Harbor Freight wet tumbler set-up with stainless steel pins?
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted April 11, 2014 Distilled water + the cleaning solvent. It doesn't get as clean as tumbling media but it's quicker and apparently quieter.

AnthonyG 36 Posted April 13, 2014 It gets the brass cleaned nice and gets the primer pockets pretty good, however the drying time required for the brass takes its overall time advantage away. I do like how I can clean brass within 20+ minutes and forget about it verse tumbling for hours.

Then I cook them for 20 min in the toaster oven at 190 deg. Nice and dry.

Jersey Joe 4 Posted April 14, 2014 how many cases at a time? that's a good question. I'll count next time. Here's a picture using a pizza pan. I use a rectangular pan now that holds more. I'm guessing maybe 200-300. The pan is about 4x as big as a 100rd loading block.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted April 14, 2014 Do you have the smaller or larger one?
Jersey Joe 4 Posted April 14, 2014 This is the one I use. Lyman sells the same one I think under their brand. I got it on sale with a coupon pretty cheap. Seems to work good. I'm not a heavy user yet though. I expect that to change now that my son is shooting 45 on his junior team and I'm crawling into IDPA http://m.harborfreight.com/25-liter-ultrasonic-cleaner-95563.html?utm_referrer=direct%2Fnot%20provided
Heavyopp 167 Posted April 14, 2014 I guess its alright if you like doing small batches -- its not for me my last batch was 22 pounds of 45 acp -- I have no idea how many cases it was but it filled a 5 gallon bucket more than halfway I won't need to clean 45 again till fall

67gtonut 847 Posted April 14, 2014 How about cleaning gun parts? I have heard mixed reviews on placing parts into sonic cleaners..... some crap about the sound waves/bubbles wearing on parts.... any thoughts?
djg0770 481 Posted April 14, 2014 Troy we used to use them on pen nibs in drafting class. I highly doubt that this is going to negatively impact gun parts if measly pen parts were fine.
Jersey Joe 4 Posted April 14, 2014 I use the Lyman Turbo Sonic cleaning solution for the brass cleaning. I've done metal pistol parts including the frames, but I use Simple Green instead of the Lyman. Again, seems to work well but it's almost just as easy and quicker to scrub quick with a stiff brush. I suppose if you left all of the components IN the frame it would make a lot more sense. I'm a bit anal so I break down everything for a thorough cleaning. I'd be nervous about moisture if I left it assembled also.
