First rounds done testing tomorrow

Recommended Posts

I finally finished up twenty test rounds of 9mm, my first ones ever! Generic FMJ Round nose with 4.1 grains of IMR HiSkor 700x and CCI primers. I have a friend who has a chrono and if it stops raining will get to see how they do tomorrow. 10 rounds are the ammoload brass with the thicker brass in the head 1/2 of the case and 10 are regular cases so it'll be interesting to see if there's a difference in pressure and therefore a bit more velocity in the ammoloads. If any one is interested I will post it tomorrow night, because 700 is around on occasion at somewhat reasonable prices. I feel like an expectant father.

I just loaded my first rounds last night. I'm loading for USPSA matches for my competition gun so my loads are on the light side. I'm interested in seeing what they do also but I did not go to the range today.

The guy with the chrono backed out due to the forecast of all things, so I don't have the hard numbers, but here's my method today and observations. I loaded several manufacturers, Blazer, Fiocchi, American Eagle and my two carts. in specific orders such as two factory, one of each of mine, then factory, and others so that I could try to feel any differences as well as judge accuracy. Also, put in random order so the subconscious couldn't mess around. To my hands and ears and eyes, there were no differences at all. No glitches of any kind and no differences in recoil, report, smoke, blast, or accuracy.

Bullzeye, you are right on the ammoload brass too, although a chrono would've been nice to back all this up.

Basically, I'm a happy camper.

I'll be glad of your opinion next weekend, Glen. I hope to have a couple of hundred so we can really see.

Got the chrony. If you have not tested the rounds yet i plan being at EFGA this coming Fri,Sat,Sun. Apr 25,26,27.

Send me a PM and we can arrange at time.

There is a big IDPA match on Sunday the 27th. Rifle range, auxiliary pit and competition pits will all be in use. Not sure if they start set-up on Saturday, but Sunday the above ranges will be closed.

There is a set up for IDPA on the calendar for Sat 26th but only on the Special Events Range (pits). Doesnt mention anything about setup on other ranges. Also they dont have the match on their calendar for Sunday.

As EFGA web updates are not exactly the bastion of punctual information i trust you more than them.
