SPR build

I'm doing my version of an SPR build. I have a bunch of parts laying around so I figured WTF?

 

Here's the list:

Spikes tactical upper

Spikes honey badger lower

Rainier arms match select 18" SPR barrel

Adams arms rifle length piston systems

Looking at a DD lite rail 3.0 12.0

RRA operstor A2 stock or a PRS

Spokes enhanced LPK

Working in a comp. I may have one made by the guy who did the one I have on my 700 SA.

 

No idea on glass.

Comp wise if you don't mind the length or price the surefire MB556 is very hard to beat.

 

Glass wise a nice 1-4 or1-6 would be ideal.

I'm trying to tell myself to hold off buying a March 1-8 and go with a SWFA 1-6.

I have a trijcon accupoimt 1-4 on my .308 I could use and get a longer range scope for that.

Love my SPR.  Love the NF2.5-10 on it.  Love the BC 1.5 brake.  I am running it with a Noveske barrel, but the Rainier are said to be really good as well.

 

My only critique would be to drop the piston system.  Not sure what you are trying to acomplish with that...

This is my first SPR which is pretty handy in tighter spaces without the can on and should be a nail driver since Odin guarantees 1MOA or better with these tubes.

 

Upper

Rifle alone weighs 7.5lbs and with the optic, 8lbs 15oz.  I haven't weighed it with the can and bipod on there yet.  

 

Center of gravity is just forward of the magwell without the can which is right where I like it.  My intent with this build was to have a true dual-purpose rifle that is handy enough that it can be used for close quarters while also being effective at 500 yards.  The 1.5-5 is currently for sale and I'll be replacing it with a 1-6 or 1-8 to further improve this rifle's utility in both roles.

 

I really like the stock.  It's like a lightweight PRS with an adjustable cheek weld and buttplate.  It weighs about 1.25lbs which is nearly half of a PRS.  It's also close to half the price.  As far as the polymer goes, it's not as smooth/uniform as what Magpul uses and reminds me more of a New Frontier Armory polymer lower which is fine since I know how much abuse those can take without failing.

Shooting FGMM at 100yds, I was drilling out the center of an 8" Shoot 'N C target with relative ease.

This build is back on. I have a BCM lo pro gas block, a WOA 18" SPR barrel and tube. I'm ordering some custom hand guards and now just need an optic. I really like the accupoint I have in my LR308 1-4x. I'm looking for something similar.

 

I'm really interested in trying the Hiperfire trigger.

Well, the parts list isn't what I initially thought it would be.  I gave up on the piston system because it wouldn't fit under a hand guard I wanted.

I have everything but the hand guards in hand--don't know the lead time.  I assume about a week.  At which point I'll take it to the range BUIS to try it out.  I'm still not decided on what optic.

I'm waiting on hand guards but here's the spikes upper with BCM gunfighter large latch, WOA 18" SPR barrel and Rainier RUC comp.  The gas block and tube are giesele.  They're actually nice pieces for and only cost 48 bucks.

Well, it's finally complete and I was able to go shoot after the scope arrived yesterday.  I bought a Leupold VX6 1-6 german reticle #4 with Leupold base for a real good deal off of ARFCOM.  I have to say I was nervous about the Hiperfire trigger, but man was I loving it.  Just a light touch of my finger stage activated the single stage.  I'm hooked.  I also added the GG&G bipod (wow it wasn't cheap!).
