Lion X6 Semi-Automatic Shotgun - WOW!

Recommended Posts

NJAC 13:54-1.2, para 1.iii says, semi-auto shotgun with at least TWO of the following is illegal:

1. folding or telescopic stock

2. pistol grip

3. fixed mag over 6 rds or

4. detachable magazine

According to this, unless that tube holds more than 6 rds...it is good to go.

I went to the NRA's Web site to find the answer.. here it is blue was correct.

"An “assault firearm” includes any semiautomatic shotgun with either a magazine capacity exceeding six rounds, a conspicuous pistol grip, or a folding stock;"

NJAC 13:54-1.2. para 3 (immediately after what I previously quoted) says:

"a semi-auto shotgun with either a magazine capacity exceeding 6 rds, a folding stock, or pistol grip (is an AW).

So a pistol grip is legal according to para 2 but illegal according to para 3. I'm not making this up but reading from a copy of the admin code downloaded from the NJSP website.

Looks like we're all right! Did anyone proof read this when it was written?

I guess you would be prosecuted because para 3 is after para 2.

I think we've been through this before (many times probably) and the conclusion was that there is an error in the NJAC. As Blue pointed out, you are charged under the statute, not the AC, so you damn well better comply with the statute.

Definition of an "assault Shotgun" under 2C - the actual black letter law.

2C:39-1w(3) A semi automatic shotgun with either a magazine capacity exceeding six rounds, a pistol grip, or a folding stock.

The stuff in the Administrative Code (Title 13) was added later (in August of 1996) after the state got sued (State of NJ v Merrill) and lost because the AWB law under 2C was ruled to vague with it's "substantially identical" language. The then AG plagiarized the federal AWB wording (which was by that time in effect) and added the "evil features" language to the AC to clarify the vague language of the NJ AWB under 2C, therefore satisfying the court requirement that the state define what exactly "substantially Identical" means.

Soooo....... no pistol grips on semi auto shotguns - period

Hey guys Gunnar has X6's ($399) X4's ($429) and Carina's ($499) in stock at the moment ready for pickup- they all come w/ a soft case and either a knife or a cleaning kit while supplies last. The trap model will be in some time in May ... ($599) to prepay one - if you previously purchased or go in and purchase another model as well the trap model is offered at ($549.)

He's also taking orders on S&B Buck/Bird shot - GREAT case pricing if you buy a shotgun he's running a special. I recommend ordering a case - the special is a prepay price. Call ahead for details if you are planning to get a shotgun they are selling out QUICK so call him at 215-297-5444.

I have an X6 and a Carina - blew 80+ rounds through the X6 nonstop, just out of a bucket of random shells I had in the basement. Some rusty, old reloads, mags, buck, bird, turkey, whatever. Right out of the box it cycled fast, no issues, no failures to fully cycle. It kicks like a 20ga the comp on it is massive and it works!

I've had several nice long chat's w/ ATI in Alabamma, the importer ... they have lots of parts coming in shortly including high pressure pistons they will be sending to everyone who previously purchased / in the future purchases one of the lion models. This will further reduce recoil on the magnum loads. Not recommended though for light trap loads.

A shipment is scheduled to go out around April 22nd - hopefully they are in the US by May. We can't control customs and such so the exact date is unknown.

These things are functioning like Bennelis for 1/3 of the price! I plan to pickup a trap model as soon as they come in.

Hopefully this summer there is going to be a demo day at a local range outside of New Hope - more details pending on that!

I am really interested in these semi shotguns, especially the trap and carina models. Do they cycle light target load well? Anyone has tried it for trap, skeet or sporting clay shooting?

I can drive over to PA to buy it and then bring it back to NJ.

Thanks
