Displaced Texan 11,748 Posted April 6, 2014 I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this question, however, I'd like other opinions on this issue. A friend of mine bought a Bushmaster carbine from a dealer in NJ recently, and it came with this muzzle device: https://www.dropbox.com/s/afn44ij2k80uq0g/Photo%20Apr%2006%2C%2013%2020%2042.jpg I'm positive that it's not legal. Bushmaster 'Izzy' flash hider. I DO know that the carbine was purchased new, in NJ from an FFL. I told him to take it back to the FFL and have him make it legal at his cost. Can't believe that a NJ FFL sold him that. The liability that subjects my friend, and the FFL to could have the potential to be costly in quite a few ways. If it were me, I would have been pretty pissed off. Hell, at least the stock was pinned properly. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! Jeff

Displaced Texan 11,748 Posted April 6, 2014 It came already pinned and welded on the carbine.
JT Custom Guns 957 Posted April 6, 2014 That is an "Izzy" and NO it is not legal on an AR in NJ
checko 180 Posted April 6, 2014 It came already pinned and welded on the carbine. Mistakes happen, but I'd bring that shit back posthaste, and I'd have my muzzle device of choice put on FO FREE
ogfarmer 138 Posted April 6, 2014 Wonder how many others are walking around with illegal muzzle devices bought from that shop
checko 180 Posted April 6, 2014 Wasn't there a thread along the same lines as this recently. TeX would you mind pming me the shop if you don't want to blow up their spot in here?
Displaced Texan 11,748 Posted April 6, 2014 Checko, I don't know the name if the shop. My friend told me, but I can't remember who it was. All I know is that the FFL is a retired NJSP officer, and is a 'kitchen table' FFL with a small stock inventory. My friend bought the Bushmaster from the FFL's inventory. It scares me that this FFL doesn't seem to know NJ's laws regarding semi auto rifles. Lots of potential for liability.

A-Tech 8 Posted April 7, 2014 I think it's really important to get the ffl information as something like this can get a lot of people in serious trouble
Golf battery 1,223 Posted April 7, 2014 Just as legal as any other birdcage. Legal in PA. Did he sell him a can that screws on the end also. Or maybe some 30 rd mags to go with it.

My friend is going to call him next week. In order to give this guy the benefit if the doubt, I'll wait to disclose his information depending on how he handles the situation. njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted April 7, 2014 The Auto Ordnance ML Carbine WAS Jersey-legal ... for about 3 days! Then everyone and their brother started calling W.Trenton and asking about its status. And suddenly, as quickly as it 'became' legal, it was ILLEGAL again. In the immortal words of Dianne Fine-Swine: "Ladies and Gentlemen of America, TURN THEM ALL IN!!" Fat friggin chance you old hag! n4p226r 105 Posted April 8, 2014 I think this happens more often than people think. I may know someone that unknowingly bought a similar armalite thatat have had an unpinned flash hider from a store in south jersey that recently opened a new range. I don't believe he told them. I think he just pinned a fsc556 instead
