zoid 24 Posted April 13, 2014 I'm just seeing if what I"m observing is correct. Seems like since the newer version of this pistol came out (M11-A1), the "original" model is commanding a higher price tag. But my only real reference is Gun Broker and the likes which tend to have higher price tags to begin with. Below is my P228. Is it truly 'West German' as they say cause the slide says Exeter, NH? In any case just seeing if you guys know a good asking price. I will be selling it to help fund a Springfield TRP (once I get permits).
kirk2022 43 Posted April 14, 2014 If it is West German it will be stamped on the bottom side of the muzzel. No accessory rail and stamped Exeter on one side and Germany on other side of slide. Probably close to the last of the German models. Lots of talk on the Sig sites of crazy prices on the German P228s. The 228 will be my next Sig, to go with my Sp2022 9mm. P226 classic .22. P226 .40. But not at the online auction prices. There are to many out there.
bry@n 195 Posted April 14, 2014 There are a few ways to see. It will say made in w. Germany on the slide. The frame should have made in Germany also. Have to look at mine. They are bringing more $$ these days. The west German models always seemed to bring more $$
zoid 24 Posted April 14, 2014 Thanks guys. Mine doesn't have the markings under the muzzle. The side says 'Made in Germany' not 'Made in W. Germany'. Not sure what that implies.
n4p226r 105 Posted April 14, 2014 It implies it's an awesome gun just newer and not as collectible but way better than the m11-a1
zoid 24 Posted April 16, 2014 It implies it's an awesome gun just newer and not as collectible but way better than the m11-a1 No disagreement that it's awesome. I actually don't shoot it very well compared to my other guns oddly enough. I know it's a me issue. I just committed to the TRP so now it's gonna have to go up on the marketplace. Unless I decide to part with something else...
bry@n 195 Posted April 16, 2014 It's a $550-600 gun all day depending on condition. Maybe even worth more depending on condition.
zoid 24 Posted April 16, 2014 It's a $550-600 gun all day depending on condition. Maybe even worth more depending on condition. Pretty good shape, I'd say it still may be under or maybe just over 1000 rounds. I never got around to using it in any matches so no holster wear. Very slight wear on the serrations not too noticeable. I am only the second owner. I'd part with something else, but that would probably yield the most coin. pbkid6974 1 Posted April 18, 2014 It implies it's an awesome gun just newer and not as collectible but way better than the m11-a1 what makes it better than an m11a1?
bry@n 195 Posted April 18, 2014 German awesomeness. Really the gun will likely be tighter and have a batter trigger pull.
kirk2022 43 Posted April 19, 2014 what makes it better than an m11a1? A true Classic Sig. Sorry, But sig is just bringing out too many Frankinsigs. Parts from many different overruns assembled to make another model M11a1= P228 / P229 MK25= P226 Dont get me wrong I love my Sigs. Along with A lot of other Sig owners. A W. German P228 is next in line to join my other Sigs.
bry@n 195 Posted April 19, 2014 Let me know if you decide to sell. I was going to look for a 229 in 9. But may just run a 228.
pbkid6974 1 Posted April 19, 2014 the only thing the m11a1 has in common with a p228 is the grips. everything else comes from a 229 and made to look like a 228. not really a franken gun when you know whats in it. its still a sweet shooter and very reliable. i've got 500 rounds through mine had i haven't had a single malfunction even with the dreaded long external extractor. i trust it enough to carry and will do so. kirk2022 43 Posted April 19, 2014 No argument at all that the M11a1 is A nice gun. I've shot A couple at the range thats guys I know own. The only Sig I have thats not A Classic is the Sp2022. And thats due to the fact that it too is A great shooter. And is A stand alone Sig platform. There may come the day that I wonder into A shop that has A great deal on A M11a1 and I just may own one. n4p226r 105 Posted April 20, 2014 what makes it better than an m11a1? The m11a1 looks uglier with the long extractor. I think the stamped slide feels better balance wise Even though I'm not a new sig hater, you can't deny the German quality. Probably less mim parts
10X 3,296 Posted April 20, 2014 Thanks guys. Mine doesn't have the markings under the muzzle. The side says 'Made in Germany' not 'Made in W. Germany'. Not sure what that implies. Made after 1990? That was reunification year.
