PK90 3,570 Posted April 14, 2014 Yesterday a video surfaced on a YouTube account under the name Matt Kennedy with B&H Gun Sales (or B&H Police Supply) out of Merritt Island, FL. The video is about a new lower called the SCR (Sporting Configurable Rifle) that is currently a prototype from Ares Defense. It looks to be a traditional style monte carlo stock, which would make it legal in states like California and New York. While not the first AR lower of its type, it certainly looks to be a more traditional style stock. According to the video it is set to be officially released at NRA later this month and will ship with an upper similar to the one in the video. Looking at the design, I am a little interested in what they did with the buffer tube, because there is nothing to the rear of the upper that would act as a buffer tube. According to the video, it will accept any upper 223/556 or 300BLK. I would also think that it could accept any other upper that is able to be used on a standard AR lower, but that remains to be seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6elD6aVw6JE Interesting. Any AR upper can be used. I assume the same bolt and recoil system must be swapped in.

Heavyopp 167 Posted April 14, 2014 I agree -- It's not terrible -- Be interesting to see how it pans out...

BlueLineFish 615 Posted April 14, 2014 With wood furniture it would be sweet. I want one.
vladtepes 1,060 Posted April 14, 2014 looks good if your options are limited.. but how the hell does that cycle..
High Exposure 5,662 Posted April 14, 2014 That's pretty Cool. You will likely lose some stability during rapid fire shots now that the "in line" recoil impulse of the original AR design has been altered, but let's face it, a couple tenths of a second added to your split time is a fair trade if your other option is not to have an AR type at all. I am really curious to see under the hood of the the ass-end of that thing and the BCG...
BlueLineFish 615 Posted April 14, 2014 Maybe the buffer pushes down on an angle similar to the kriss

Tactical Monkey 51 Posted April 14, 2014 I am really curious to see under the hood of the the ass-end of that thing and the BCG... Delivered by the internet. I do not know the how's or why, just that they were out on a public website. https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/pdfs/US8397623.pdf
High Exposure 5,662 Posted April 14, 2014 Groovy. Thanks!
Theron 5 Posted April 14, 2014 If this functions reliably I would definitely get one for the collection.
JonF 79 Posted April 14, 2014 The action is similar to some semi-auto shotgun actions with the main recoil spring canted downward into the stock.
Rob0115 1,105 Posted April 14, 2014 Very cool indeed.
Boejoula 0 Posted April 14, 2014 If its my only option, not much thought has to go into it. would definitely pick one up
DeerSlayer 241 Posted April 15, 2014 Reminds me of a mini 14 ranch rifle a little.
High Exposure 5,662 Posted April 16, 2014 Looking at it some more, I am curious about standard AR sights being usable with that type of cheek weld. With that style of stock I would think the sights would need to be lower/closet to the line of bore, like they are on a shotgun or mini-14,
n4p226r 105 Posted April 16, 2014 could run a micro t1 right on the rail. not sure what options you'd have for irons. the biggest issue i don't like is the mag release. if the lower is totally different, why not move it closer to the trigger.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted April 16, 2014 Yeah - it looks like you have to shift your hand forward to release the mag... Don't really like that....
BlueLineFish 615 Posted April 16, 2014 I read that they plan on realeasing different stocks, even wood. They were just looking for suppliers. Either way my name is on the preorder list
PK90 3,570 Posted March 12, 2016 Anyone get one? I can get the lowers.
High Exposure 5,662 Posted March 12, 2016 How much and which stocks can you get? I want the short LOP stock, but have only seen that on complete rifles, not lowers. Anyone know if they added the LRBHO? Apparantly the trigger blows (so say the reviews on the intardwebz) and it doesn't use standard AR trigger parts so you can't swap. Despite the above, I am interested in one of these.
