8mm mauser brass from .30-06

So I've read that this is a feasible, and relatively simple/safe thing to do. Considering I don't shoot .30-06, I'm not worried that I'll accidentally mix up and try putting 8mm in a .30-06. Furthermore, I know that .30-06 brass is easier to come across (I have a lot of friends who don't reload, but would save me their brass from new production .30-06). If I could save money, and get brass easier, it would be a great solution.

 

Now to my concerns. Would you guys recommend it? Furthermore, what is the process, and what type of case trimmer would I use? Also, is there anything I would have to be especially careful of?

Haven't tried it (don't have either caliber) but Midway generally is a good source

Have you tried to source 8mm brass directly without doing the conversion?

Seems simple enough, just resize and trim to length. (Plenty of YouTube videos covering it.) I would look for brass while you still can find it.

Midway is oos but Grafs has Privi 8x57 brass for about $50/100.

I convert all the time, just neck turn afterwards and you are good to go
