mipafox 438 Posted June 11, 2014 You can send them to me. I'm a licensed 07/02 that manufactures machine guns as part of normal business. He can send them to a 7 year old kid. They are unregulated. I want them as spares for my M16. But they are everywhere and not expensive, I was just offering him a few bucks to dump them rather than throwing them in the garbage. mipafox 438 Posted June 11, 2014 Even without the sear the hammer won't lock back when switched to full auto. When that hammer goes forward won't it fire the 2nd round? Or at least light strike the primer? What? The purpose of the sear is to release the hammer when it is tripped by the bolt carrier. The bolt face chambers the round and starts locking (by the cam slot and pin in the carrier) before the carrier is all the way forward. Once that is finished, the carrier moves the rest of the way and trips the sear, dropping the hammer. This prevents the hammer from riding the carrier and either causing OOB fire or bolt bounce light primer strikes (more likely). Your AR can fire auto without the sear, it's just not safe or reliable. 302w 83 Posted June 12, 2014 Also, FWIW, a lot of people modify FCGs to semi auto only. It isn't hard. I didn't use a parts kit so I used commercial lowerparts.
