saiga 7.63 scope mount suggestions

I'm looking for a low profile scope mount. I think I'd like to stay away from a quad rail system and the ultimax gas tube.

I was looking that that one. I like the Midwest low pro o e but this is half the price. I might have to give it a shot.

I like the mount. Now to find a decent but inexpensive sight. I'm thinking a 1-3x red dot type. I know the AK is not a bullseye shooter but I'd like to be able to hit the target reliably at 100 yards and see where I'm shooting. I'd love the setup my dad has on his at (primary arms RDS and a 3x vortex magnifier. ) but I dont know if that's worth it on an AK.

my god... how do you get a good cheek weld with that scope?  i just held my ak up and i think that would be a jaw-line weld for me

works fine, In the pic the scope was not mounted in the correct position, I had just thrown it all on there for a pic 6 months ago. The scope was actually off my AR and threw it on there to see how it looked, I shoot fine with it, havent changed it but probably will one day.

The RS side mount is about the tightest, lowest profile mount you will find. Check it out.

 

Now my snobby opinion. I took the scope off my AK. The AK is not a scope gun. Maybe a dot gun. Definitely an iron sight gun. You just have to work real hard at 100 yards to gain any proficiency.

RS mounts are the way to go. Rock solid, proven, and give you the best (IMO) cheek weld.

 

Also, I know many are happy with Krebs' mount as well. I have no experience on that though.

The vortex is a RDS. It just has a 2x screw on magnifier. Since the mount is quick detach I have no issues just piping it off when I want to run iron sights. My eyes arnt great so at out door ranges where the closest target for center fire is 100 yards I'd like to be able to see where I'm hitting.

Just an update. My dad is awesome and ordered the vortex StrikeFire RDS with the 2x magnifier for me for my birthday next month. And I have a bp-02 mount from kalinka coming as well.

Just an update. My dad is awesome and ordered the vortex StrikeFire RDS with the 2x magnifier for me for my birthday next month. And I have a bp-02 mount from kalinka coming as well.

 

Do you think you'll have enough room on that mount for the Strikefire and magnifier?

I got it all today. The StrikeFire comes with an x2 magnifier. It screws on to the end of the RDS. It fits fine.

Bp-02 AK mount and the vortex StrikeFire. I don't have the 2x magnifier screwed in but its about I'd say 3 incs added tkbthe rear. Nothing crazy. I adjusted the lever on the mount and its pretty tight now.

 

I can cowitness with the sight set to 300meters.

Got everything tight and dialed in at the range today. Love it. Hg only has like a 20 yard range so its zeroed for that Now. Was centered out of the box just had to raise it up quite a bit but that's the nature of 7.62x39 I guess.

 

Now I need a hand gaurd that has a heat shield. After 40 rounds it gets almost too hot to hold. Lol.
