Thought a had a monster

I was fishing in the pond next to my house. I had already caught 5 bass in the matter of 15 mins. So I was living the action. I was using a Mepps inline spinner. I had a monster hit. I was fighting this fish and it was running my drag out every time I got it near shore. I though a had a nice bass. Got it up and it was a catfish. I've never caught a catfish on an inline spinner.

I've caught a number of catfish on crank baits. One night out on Spruce Run Reservoir while topwater fishing for hybrid Stripers, I caught a 5 pound channel cat.

Arent Bass spawning this time of year? If you remove them from the nest other fish come in and eat the eggs. I am jelous though. I could spend the rest of my life fresh water fishing.

They are doing construction on the pond, I doubt anything is spawning yet

That's a man made pond. It was built when our houses were built. The rain from our neighborhood runs into it to keep it filled. It has fountains to cut back on Mosquitos. When it was built it was stocked. I've caught bass, bluegill and crappie in there. That was the first catfish. They are widening it and putting in a flat area around it. It is 8' below the cement corner pieces in the middle.
