"Veteran With Concealed Carry Permit Shoots Back At Chicago Gunman"

http://news.yahoo.com/veteran-concealed-carry-permit-shoots-back-chicago-gunman-031804649.html

"Had Friday’s shooting occurred a little more than a year ago, the veteran would not have been legally permitted to conceal carry his firearm..."

And they won't go as far as to say defend himself and his friends.  Ugh.

Of course, they won't. They don't want to plant the mindset that carrying for HD/SD is a "good" thing.....  They want to spin it as if the veteran was committing some kind of crime....

If you follow the right news sources you will read 3-4 of these per day. And those are just the ones that make the news. Try "The Gun Wire" for starters.

According to government stats this sort of thing is VERY common.

That's just it.... the problem is that the "sheeples" don't know these "riight" news sources exist. They only know the MSM. And the MSM is dead set against airing these kinds of stories  .  I have yet to see one of the "big three" networks (i.e. National News programs) air the story of the Philly psychiatrist. I have seen a few AP and other Internet news articles about it... most of which (except FOX News) are quick to bring up the hospital's "no guns except active LEO" policy...

If we had a way to deliver *our* content with *our* spin on it to as many as the MSM can, we'd truly be in business.

"86-year-old won't be charged in concealed carry shooting, prosecutors say"  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-cops-concealed-carry-permit-holder-shoots-at-armed-robbery-suspect-20140728,0,2605611.story

------

Authorities have decided not to file charges against an 86-year-old Crestwood man who fired his legal weapon at an armed robbery suspect who was fleeing police, the Cook County state’s attorney’s office said today.

The man, whom authorities would not identify, is licensed to carry a concealed gun in public, officials said. Authorities described him as a “model citizen” in Crestwood, a village of 11,000 residents in south suburban Cook County.

The permit holder told police he was about to enter an AT&T store at 4756 W. Cal-Sag Road around noon on Saturday when he noticed the store was being robbed, Crestwood police said in a statement. The man stayed outside to prevent anyone from entering, police said, and after he saw the suspect leaving through a back door, entered the store and chased him.

A police officer also was pursuing the suspect but had to duck for cover when the shots were fired. No one was injured.

Assistant State’s Attorney Dan Kirk said the Crestwood Police Department declined to file charges and the state’s attorney sees no reason to pursue it further.

“This is an 86-year-old law-abiding individual who comes across a forcible felony in progress … and helped others avoid being victims,” said Kirk.

The suspect, Demetrius Merrill, 17, of Chicago, was charged with armed robbery and held on $1 million bail.

Didn't have gun, got robbed and assaulted, moved out of New Jersey to somewhere better, bought gun for defense:  "What’s worse, having a gun and not needing it, or needing it and not having it?"  http://www.examiner.com/article/what-s-worse-having-a-gun-and-not-needing-it-or-needing-it-and-not-having-it

According to Obama's 2013 capstone CDC anti-gun research study it happens HUNDREDS of times per day, or certainly "at a minimum, much more likely to be used in a defensive manner than for criminal purposes."

Call me a sexist, misogynist. Whatever. Ban me forever for saying this, but whenever I see a bunch of middle-aged women carrying signs in public the first word that pops into my head is "dumbasses."

NRA News Cam & Co has a Deal and Hero of the day just about every episode. Hero of the day highlights a story about defensive firearm use. Deal of the day highlights the usual story of a criminal being on parole, probation, or having plea bargained his way out of prison going on to commit more violent crimes.

"Authorities arrived about 20 minutes later..."  And that is why we need to be self-sufficient.

In NJ remember these words, and if  you choose to speak: "I was in fear for my life" they should be repeated frequently. The case will be presented to the Grand Jury, no matter how justified the shooting was.
