DeerSlayer 241 Posted May 16, 2014 I know this is kind of short notice. But I figured I would post it here incase your looking for something fun to do with your kids this weekend. The Sussex County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs will be holding it’s annual fishing derby on Saturday May 17th at the pond on the State Fair grounds, open to all kids and families 15 years old or younger to participate in the derby, everyone else may fish along with their children. Very good Bass and pan fishing here, also large catfish in this pond (almost every year the overall winning fish is a large catfish, although last year was a largemouth bass) Below from our official flyer: SUSSEX COUNTY FEDERATION OF SPORTSMEN’S CLUBS WILL BE HOLDING THEIR ANNUAL *** Admission is FREE, but we kindly ask that you please bring a minimum of one can of food for NORWESCAP food banks.*** CHILDREN’S FISHING DERBY WITH BREAKFAST AND LUNCH PREPARED BY THE BOY SCOUTS (Food can be purchased from the Boy Scouts) ON: SATURDAY, MAY 17, 2014 (New Jersey Regular Season Fishing Regulations Apply) from: 9:00 AM to Noon AT: SUSSEX COUNTY FARM AND HORSE SHOW COMPLEX POND PLAINS ROAD, AUGUSTA, N.J. (Rain Date: Sunday May 18, 2014) INFORMATION CALL 973-697-0217 *15 Years of age and younger. Age groups will be established and winners determined, in each age group, by the length of the fish. In the event that more than 180 participants show up, the time available for fishing may be limited by age group. Derby participants should provide their own fishing tackle. The Federation will have worms available free. Every child in attendance will receive some type of small prize, larger prizes given to first, second, and third place in each age group.
