louu 399 Posted May 28, 2014 Well it finally happened, I was reloading 45 last night and ran out of powder. Now I don't know what to do lol. Clay's is the only powder I like because it meeters so well, has no recoil and makes well over the power factor. Any one have a pound you can sell me or trade me? I can trade you a new pound of Varget or a pound of 700x that has 100 rounds of powder missing from it. I know this is a long shot (pun intended) Ive been asking everyone and searching the interwebs and keep hearing it will be available again in July or august
T Bill 649 Posted May 28, 2014 Or as we say, "You have two choices, none, and none at all." That stuff is better than gold right now. What is the problem with the 700X? Use what you can, who knows when the others will be available again. Things are real tough out there for pistol powders, and not getting any better anytime soon. louu 399 Posted May 28, 2014 Haha thanks T Bill. The 700x doesn't work at all in the Lee powder measure.
SmartAss 11 Posted May 28, 2014 What other powders have you tried for .45 and why don't you like them? Soloman's always has Bullseye whenever I go there. It's little dirty and you have have to keep a close eye for over charging but I found it to be great for .45.

The 700x does not work at all in the Lee powder measure and I don't have the patients to weigh every charge for plinking ammo.
10X 3,296 Posted May 29, 2014 the Auto comp meters perfect but has a lot of recoil. Use less. Powder choice can affect perceived recoil, but it's usually a fairly subtle thing as long as the various loads have the same muzzle velocity. If you are feeling a lot more recoil with a particular powder, it's a hotter load--you're driving the bullet to a higher muzzle velocity with that load. Sonnylee 20 Posted June 1, 2014 What about claydot? Has anyone tried it for .45 ammo?
louu 399 Posted June 1, 2014 Ive heard it was the same thing, but it's just as hard to find apparently. Fyi, your signature takes up too much space and screen very small
