help with my first bow hunt.

Recommended Posts

So I tried to get out last year for the first time with no luck. I just purchased my bow license for this season and really want to get out. Hunting was never a thing in my family growing up so have no hunting experience except for books and videos. I am confident in my equipment but would love to tag along with someone who knows what they are doing to learn from experience. Are there any clubs or groups that do this kind of thing?

I've been bow hunting a long time  and the one piece of advice I can give is enjoy the hunt more then the harvest ,if not you will lose interest real fast ( I DID ) when I first started out . much like yourself I had to learn on my own since no family member hunted, The wind is you friend and worst enemy , always try to set your stand so your scent don't blow across the trail were you think deer will come from , although the usually come from a way you would least expect , don't dress at home hop in the truck get gas all that scent you take in the woods SCENT IS YOUR WORST OF ALL ENEMY. Dress at your truck put on the least amount of cloths walk to you stand finish dressing . you'll sweat less . Trail cams help knowing what deer are in your area , don't overlook small pieces of woods everyone  else overlooks a lot of times good deer will be in there , use other hunters to your advantage if you hunt public land more often the not most guys only want to walk so far to there stand . you get in early and go farther they will bump the deer to you. . Sitting all day by yourself is tough but your chances go up ten fold .
