CageFighter 236 Posted June 30, 2014 due to the limited ban of the .50BMG round at most ranges, any thoughts on the .416 Barrett round instead?
Vlad G 345 Posted June 30, 2014 Consider why ranges don't allow it. Mostly it is because they are concerned about the berms and other equipment taking the hits. 416 may not be a lot kinder so it isn't about just working around club rules, it is also about the reasons for those rules. Mind you, some times clubs are overly paranoid, but still, it is their rules and maybe they know something you don't. I would ask them first.
raz-0 1,259 Posted July 2, 2014 50 isn't going through any of the back berms of any club in have seen. The primary issue is noise and run off. Skip a .308 off the range floor and that's bad, but you eat up a good portion of energy. .50 is still going to be carrying a LOT of energy. Just like rifle ricochet at a couple hundred yards is scary. .50 ricochet is frikin terrifying.
Vlad G 345 Posted July 2, 2014 I didn't say they're reasons were good, I said they existed.
