Lasermax Genesis

Recommended Posts

So I just got my Lasermax Genesis in the mail... actually FedEx Ground was ringing my doorbell at 9:13 this morning, I was shocked (  Almost all residential delivery is FedEx "Home Delivery" - and 99% of the time, even if your package somehow shipped "FedEx Ground" when it gets to its destination hub it goes out Home Delivery.  This did not... so they could have delivered on Saturday but because it was routed through Ground, it sat around all weekend [FedEx home delivery delivers on Saturdays for free, its awesome] ).

I found this per chance on eBay and I don't even eBay much.  It was at $50 bucks and had 50 minutes left in the auction... I found out, the deal was it's a pawn shop that does eBay.  Someone apparently bought this brand new, and like the day they got it needed immediate money so brought it in and must have taken a BEATING on it.  Because I had said I would bid $55, then decided, let me go to $65 and that is IT... well it went to $64.99 in the final 30 seconds... I won by a penny.  And if you are not familiar, the reason I did this at all was PayPal has a new program where you can pay, without paying for 14 days.  the Seller will get their money but you don't get charged for 14 days so if there is a problem, when you are disputing it , you haven't even lost your money yet and it makes it much safer to try things (like an open-box sale ... this is a $200 retail product I got for $65 so... a steal really..but you wonder because when something is too good to be true... but that PayPal 14-Day float really mitigates any risk).

The Genesis is a green, miniature rail-mounted laser for firearms that is also rechargeable.  It is a 2.5 hour charge, 2-2.5 hour run time.  I didn't realize at purchase but it's a pulsating laser, it's not steady, it pulsates that's what it does [this is how they get excellent battery life.]  It is very small and while it could probably fit nicely on my Glock 23, it is now on my Sig P226 MK25 as my G23 is my primary carry gun now in FL and it' s hard enough to conceal... plus I do not think I will be able to find a holster for it.

As my MK25 is a home-defense gun that I am not really worried about a holster or CCW for, I can use the laser most of the time.  I have not fired it but it's looking pretty good as far as the zero/vs my sights so I don't think it needs a ton of adjusting.  I definitely feel comfortable saying if I was pointing this laser at a bad guy in HD/PP distances it's going to hit the person near the aim spot.

So far I am very happy... I have to admit, in a perfect world I would have a Lasermax green guide rod laser for the Glock 23 and either a Streamlight TLR-2G or Viridian X5L [both are full-size, high power light/green laser combos of the highest quality] for the MK25 but all of these are in the $300 to $400 range and especially the TLR-2G/X5L are very large in size... this doesn't even take up the space of the rail provided (The MK25 has a FULL SIZE 'milspec' rail ].

Here is  pic or two- So far I am very happy and while I am not actually able to say it's battle-worthy yet it's pretty awesome so far.
