Trip to The CMP

Is anyone interested in some type of group trip to the CMP? I really want to go, but I don't want to drive out there alone.

I went 7-5-12. Store was loaded. 9 hrs. each way. Great if the store has product. But to see empty racks?, Check CMP forum for inventory. Now is the time to go for the matches.

Yeah, seems to vary by day... They should have an in store live web cam. lol I'm still kind of interested though.

Last year the CMP availability was limited when you went online for either rifles or ammo.

 

I stopped there in June on my way to Indiana (2013). If there was one rifle on the racks there was probably 200 to choose from. All makes, all prices.

Wasn't there to buy, just to stop in while not to far out of the way traveling.

 

Ended up with a real nice Winchester, 1 box of 30-06. When getting the ammo I asked how much can I get - the answer, your buying a rifle, how many cans do you want?

 

I don't know that I would chance a drive form NJ to Ohio, but if I was within an hour or two, absolutely.

    ugh, ugh, ugh, My family and I were in Sandusky for non-firearms related reasons (roller coasters!) 3 weeks ago and it never even dawned on me that I should drive over the CMP store....   My son is an M1 Garand junkie too.

I go very frequently and don't advise doing a trip any time soon and don't organize on the forum. I got a couple of trips going on the forum and got fugged every time. You always get people saying ooh ooh I'll go, then when it comes time to leave they don't answer phones or show up.

Good posts, good information as far as availability of stock when you get there.

I wouldn't commit at this time (don't want to be one of those ooh ooh guys), but it would be nice to keep this thread alive.

I really don't want to place an order. Lol. At least I know I'll get something that way though... I'll have to pay attention to store reports.
