Trouble removing trigger group from 500

Is there a trick to removing the trigger group from a Mossberg 500 or a problem that can keep it from coming out? I pulled the pin, have the bolt 1/2 way, barrel off.  Trigger group will not come out.

Make sure to slide the trigger group forward a tiny bit as it sits in a kind of recessed slot, if you will. So slide it forward, it should come out of the slot, then pull up and it should come right out.

I've always removed the pin, slid bolt to half cock, and removed barrel. Then move bolt to full battery and remove the trigger group. Is your safety on when trying to remove the trigger group? If it is, maybe that is causing your issues.

I still can't seem to get it.  Feels like it is hung up on something.  I will keep at it.

 

This could be the excuse I've been looking for to upgrade to the 590A1 SPX I've had my eye on.

Problem solved - user error.

 

I had swapped out the butt stock a few times.  I put on an ATI stock and changed back to the standard stock.  Along the way I neglected to put the spacer in.  This kept the trigger assembly from sliding back enough to clear the tabs.  All the info you guys posted way helpful.  It showed me that the trigger assembly needed to slide backwards, not just down.
