Fair price for S&W 19-3 in good shape

A friend of a friend has an inherited 19-3 and wants to sell. I don't have any details at this point as this guy is not into guns at all. Don't know if it's blued or nickel, barrel length, vintage, etc. All he could tell me is it has wood grips.

 

Planning to see it tomorrow when all questions will be answered. Just wanted to get an idea on a fair price. Don't want to steal it, but I do want a good deal.

 

Any input would be helpful.

Condition is everything. The gun could be worth anywhere from $250-750 depending on condition and the ot b er stuff you mentioned.

Yeah, I know it's tough with so little info.  Let's assume 90% or better condition since I'm not interested if it is any worse.  Not sure how realistic prices are on Gunbroker. 

 

I don't really need another revolver, but if it's a clean, blued snubby I'm not sure I can say no.

Gunbroker prices tend high, so they tell me.  It seems to me that revolvers have retreated and become more of a niche market...semi-autos are in greater demand,  and if memory serves the M19-3 is the last of the pinned/recessed M19's.

I have a super clean 19-5 (4" blued) in my store right now for $500. A snub barrel or stainless would be worth more.
