Scorpio64 5,155 Posted July 11, 2014 Who here has experience dealing with or shooting skeet at Saloman's? Thee is so little info on the web about his shop and range. I'm thinking about doing some skeet shooting and wondering what the situation is there. Is it open to the public or is it a club? What's the availability and price of target ammo there like? Respect2A 0 Posted July 11, 2014 It's only trap. No Skeet. It's a club that you can join for 20 bucks a year and save .50 per round of trap. You can walk on otherwise and pay the higher rate. They do sell shells if you need them. Usually a decent price. Be warned that it's an "experience". It's not bad but don't go there if you are very sensitive or in a hurry. Gene is a mix of the soup Nazi from Seinfeld and the experience you get if you try to order a cheesesteak in Philly and take too long making up your mind. If you are allergic to dust stay out of the shop. That being said, I love it.
djg0770 481 Posted July 11, 2014 Gene is a fixture and a character. Website? You're lucky he has a phone, and even luckier if he actually answers it. Cash is the only currency accepted. It's a wonderful place where cellphones and interruptions really are not welcome. Act like a gentleman, know what you want, and you'll have no problem there. Kingsoverqueens 10 Posted July 11, 2014 My son and I were there a few months ago, first time for both of us. As I introduced him to "Mr. Saloman" and chided him by saying "The dust in here is older than you." That seemed to break the ice. lol As far as the trap range, it looks like a real nice down home place to shoot. We were there on a Sunday morning once, before the shop opened, and the people were nice and all seemed to be having a good time.
Scorpio64 5,155 Posted July 11, 2014 ............... We were there on a Sunday morning once, before the shop opened, and the people were nice and all seemed to be having a good time. I thought they didn't open until 1:00 on Sun. Are the hours for trap different than the gun shop hours?
DaveMcL 18 Posted July 12, 2014 Store opens at 1:00 . Not sure about trap time.
High Velocity 0 Posted July 12, 2014 I remember going there a lot back in the early 90s. LOL Sounds like nothing's changed. I bet there's still a lot of cool stuff kept "in the back." I remember drooling over a used Colt Python he had for sale back then, my "dream gun" at that time. Ugh, still regret not buying it.
Smokin .50 1,907 Posted July 13, 2014 There's ONLY ONE Gene, lol! Web site? I just sprayed my coffee all over the screen! He may still be using a rotary dial phone! And the dust in that store is older than half of the members of this forum, lol!
