Should I expect a response from this?.......

Recommended Posts

Ill let my email do most of the talking, however I ordered 250 rounds of reloaded .357 from LAX. Couple of the rounds concerned me, more so the split case, however I only mentioned the Tula steel because it was there.

So am I expecting too much for a response? I know I didnt say I wanted something, but customer service would dictate at least a response and maybe like a free shipping code or something. Ive ordered reloads from Freedom and have had zero issues, love 'em, however Id be hesitant to reorder from Lax.

What do you think? I sent the below message on the 9th............

Thanks for readin,

Tom

Hello,

I received my order today via FedEx. Packaged great, thanks!

I just wanted to note a couple of the rounds. First and foremost is a split/damaged case. I would not feel safe shooting this round. And second is a steal cased Tula round. Im just glad I decided to place them in trays for transport which gave me a chance to check each round out. That split case is really a concern for me and makes me question my purchase. Please see the attached pics.

Thanks,
Tom

Wow! Good job catching those. Shooting that cracked case would have en bad.. mkay? I've never dealt with LAX so I can't speak on what they would say. How was the ammo advertised? Either way, I wouldn't order from them again if I had other options.

The description states "brass and nickel plated brass casings"......again, Im not too bothered by the one steel casing in there. Im not too unreasonable to not understand, if it was the only issue I wouldnt have mentioned it.

I am bothered by the lack of response on the split case. Who knows what would happen. Its not a .22 after all.

I had an issue with getting one round once from Freedom where the bullet was depressed too far.  I sent an email, not specifically asking for anything and they sent me a free box of ammo to make up for it.  That is what I call great customer service.

Shooting that cracked case would have en bad.

Why is that?  The entire shell casing is inside of the cylinder and the brass will simply form out to the cylinder and the round will go out the end.   The rim of the brass should keep any gases from blowing back to the operator.

Im with you on that theory.......however.......Im not shootin it.

Ill call it the first test case for the bullet puller I just picked up with the rest of my reloading supplies.

I wouldn't have shot it either, I'm not convinced that there would have been any problem.   A split base or something could be a huge problem..mid case...meh.

Without the brass containing and directing the expanding gases you would probably get gas out the back of the cylinder. Right next to your hands.

You probably seen the picture of someones thumb that was near the front cylinder gap. Very not pretty.

Also loss of gas pressure could also result in a stuck round in the barrel.

Good rule of thumb, if something seems wrong it is. Is your hand worth more than 25 cents?

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.
