Old School 611 Posted July 15, 2014 Review this and tell us what you think about how it affects NJ law. http://www.ar15mr2.com/
FishNJ 2 Posted July 15, 2014 Sounds like it uses a standard mag which means you have to be in possession of an illegal mag. Some could get you on some convolution of the constructive intent clause. Just my penny's worth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

FishNJ 2 Posted July 15, 2014 Ah with respect to the detachable magazine part. Let me reread.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
vladtepes 1,060 Posted July 15, 2014 it has no impact on NJ law when used in the method where you break open the gun to swap mags because NJ law is worded in the following manner.. A semi-automatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least two of the following the qualifier of being able to "accept a detachable mag" is still a situation where the gun can accept a mag.. if you make the magazine permanent (top loader only)... then it could be argued that the gun could have all other evil features because the gun no longer accepts a detachable mag but at the end of the day that thing is silly at best.. FishNJ 2 Posted July 15, 2014 I think vlad captured my thoughts. Just so I'm clear you're willing to give up the detachable mag to gain a bayonet lug and/or flash hider and/or adjustable stock? What does this really get you? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Old School 611 Posted July 16, 2014 For me personally, I don't care about the flash suppressor or bayo lug. I want a adjustable stock and to be NJ/NY state legal so I can take the rifle into NY. I want as short a rifle as is legally possible. 10rds in a fixed mag will meet my purpose.
JT Custom Guns 956 Posted July 16, 2014 In my professional opinion it's a bunch of hoey! Another squirrel trying to get a nut, that's all. As Vald pointed out - it doesn't matter HOW the gun accepts the detachable mag it still ACCEPTS the detachable mag - so it becomes the qualifier for the two (2) Evil Feature rule. These knuckleheads that come up with this crap, and try to tell unknowing customers that their gun will no be compliant should be held accountable for their bullshit. And in my humble opinion, it is just that - BULLSHIT!
MidwestPX 172 Posted July 16, 2014 The MR2 is geared more toward the CA and NY crowds which is where we ship them primarily.
vladtepes 1,060 Posted July 16, 2014 The MR2 is geared more toward the CA and NY crowds which is where we ship them primarily. right.. in those situations.. it might be reasonable.. I know that CA has a qualifier that makes some stipulations to the whole detachable mag thing..
MidwestPX 172 Posted July 16, 2014 right.. in those situations.. it might be reasonable.. I know that CA has a qualifier that makes some stipulations to the whole detachable mag thing.. Yep. I think the more vague wording of NJ code relative to CA and NY makes the MR2 a non-starter in NJ.
High Exposure 5,661 Posted July 16, 2014 I want a adjustable stock and to be NJ/NY state legal so I can take the rifle into NY. I want as short a rifle as is legally possible. If you want it as short as legally possible, why do you want an adjustable stock? Just pin it all the way closed. If you really want the shortest possible rifle, look at a bullpup. My MSAR (AUG "clone") has a 16" barrel but it's overall length is shorter than my work issued Colt Commando which only has an 11.5" barrel.

The reason for shortest possible length is for storage reasons. I have monkey arms and require stock length when shooting.
