danw77 13 Posted July 18, 2014 I've been to Clinton WMA numerous times to sheet .22's and skeet. I need to find a place to zero my scope for slugs. I pulled up the WMA rules (http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/ranges.htm) and it seems that buckshot and slugs are allowed on the muzzleloader/rifle range. That's news to me... I never noticed that before. Can anyone confirm that? I can't remember what the posted signs on the range say. Thanks in advance.
Heavyopp 167 Posted July 18, 2014 Slugs on the rifle range only are fine...

Apparently, you can, on the muzzleloader range, if you do so within the "special rules" for the Clinton WMA. I'll find out more since I'll be going for my hunting license next week. illy 1 Posted July 18, 2014 Yeah, Clinton WMA rifle/muzzleloader range is good to go for slugs. That's where I zero my deer shotgun and also shoot rifled slugs there from my other shotguns.
Lalo 13 Posted July 18, 2014 Yeah, I've shot slugs at the rifle range at the Clinton WMA range.
danw77 13 Posted July 18, 2014 Great, thanks guys. I've been there many times but never knew that. I learned something new today!
DeerSlayer 241 Posted July 18, 2014 Yep thats the reason for the muzzle loader range. Sighting in rimfire, black powder, air rifle, and shotgun (slug or buckshot) for hunting season. if you've got a valid hunting license have at it.
Newtonian 453 Posted July 18, 2014 Does anyone know the target infrastructure at the Flatbrook muzzleloader range? Is there a way to use a conventional target stand? Place or way to hang paper targets? I have not been there in about 18 years. Was hoping to take my wife there, with a .22 rifle and air rifle.
danw77 13 Posted July 18, 2014 Never been to Flatbrook, but in Clinton you can basically use whatever you want. There is nothing there but a dirt mound so you have to bring something with you to hang your targets on. The first couple of times I went I used a cheap target stand I bough at walmart, but after that I made my own out of some rebar and scrap lumber. Most other people I've seen there use a homemade stand as well. Just make sure you take everything with you when you leave. I always try to clean up other peoples mess as best I can, too. T Bill 649 Posted July 18, 2014 Last time I was at Flatbrook it was a mess. Overflowing garbage cans, range littered with shot up cardboard and such. Place could use a good straightening up. Bring your own stand and target.
DeerSlayer 241 Posted July 19, 2014 Flatbrook... What garbage cans??? Non existent... bring a garbage bag every time I go, I usually fill with stuff dirt bags leave lying around, put it in my truck bed and toss it in my work dumpster the next day. You can shoot at whatever you wish there. I use a metal frame Caldwell banker reality sign makes a great portable target. Although you can basically shoot at whatever you want to there. No specific target rules for Flatbrook.
