Dro8 1 Posted July 20, 2014 Does anyone know if you can put on a +2 base pad on a Glock factory 9mm 10-round mag (for a G17 / G34)? I've never seen the inside of a 10 rounder, so I don't know if it has a normal spring etc. I want to put a magwell on a G34 for ESP use in IDPA, but since I live in NJ, I'm limited to 15 rounds, and the only way I can think of adding the base pad for the mag well is on a 10 rounder. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
High Exposure 5,634 Posted July 20, 2014 I use these: http://www.brownells.com/magazines/handgun-magazines/magazine-parts/magazine-floorplates/large-black-sku642000003-9519-23533.aspx They are aluminum extended baseplates that add 0 to capacity. I have them on all my dedicated training/comp mags and they work great! They work awesome with my magwell (I like the cheap Prezine plastic ones), protect your mags when they drop and the little bit of extra weight is nice when swapping mags quickly. A little pricey at ~$16 a pop but worth every penny IMO.
FLHX 1 Posted July 20, 2014 I don't know whats legal in IDPA but I use the TTI and the Zev (glockworx) base pads for USPSA. They don't add any capacity to the 10 rd mags. If you think the Brownells are pricey these are down right crazy expensive. The TTI ones are legal in production as they fit in the box but I don't think the Zev's are. I like the TTI ones better and it makes your mags drop very nicely. I use a heavy Zev magwell and both work great on my 34 and 35 http://tarantacticalinnovations.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=44_49&products_id=
Polak 3 Posted July 20, 2014 10 rounders won't accept any + plates.
Dro8 1 Posted July 21, 2014 Thank you all for your comments. Polak had the info I was looking for. Guess it's +0 pads on the 10 rounders...
Russell 3 Posted July 21, 2014 Yeah they won't work. The 10 rounders use a narrower spring and the whole inside of the mag is narrower. Dawson also makes +0 extended base pads, but they're also pricey.
Polak 3 Posted July 21, 2014 Thank you all for your comments. Polak had the info I was looking for. Guess it's +0 pads on the 10 rounders...You can get 15 round (pinned 17 round) magazines from Estrella Ordnance http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/classifieds/item/3039-15-round-glock-1734-magazine/'%20title='15%20Round%20Glock%2017/34%20Magazine
Dro8 1 Posted July 21, 2014 Thanks Polak, but I already have those 15 rounders from Estrella. They're' very nice, but I can't change the base pads on them since they're permanently altered. I need extended base pads so I can use them with a magwell. I'll have to settle for the 10-rounders with extended +0 base pads. I can always use one of the 15 rounders to start the Stage, and then reload with the 10 rounders.
High Exposure 5,634 Posted July 21, 2014 You could get a different magwell. Both the Sentinel Designs Magwell: and the Salient Arms Mag Guide: are designed for use with standard mags as well as some extended baseplates. They aren't a huge funnel like a lot of the comp magwells out there, but they work very well.
