Wooden arrows with a compound bow

Recommended Posts

your son is correct , shooting a wooden arrow from compound could be very dangerous (arrow shattering and embedding into your forearm) depending on how much poundage your pulling of course. i would stick with carbon with a compound.  here is some solid chart info

Don't touch the bow with a tool unless you know exactly what your doing! I highly recommend bringing the bow to a professional with a bow press to work on it. Have them scale the bow then adjust the poundage to where your comfortable. Also have the string checked and the draw length adjusted to you personally before you pick out an arrow. Step one get your draw length set step two choose the proper length and weight arrows made out of the correct material for your modern style compound bow. And under no circumstances should you ever use a wooden arrow in a modern bow. They're not meant for a modern bow with snappy cams pushing arrows up to 300fps.

This is an example of what happens when you choose the wrong length arrow. post-7008-140675490662_thumb.jpg

I have heard good things about this guy. I know a few folks that use him. I have spoken with him a few times. A little gruff, but not a bad guy.

Thanks guys. Lakewood is closer but I'm familiar with Sportsmen Center.

We'll get to one of them next week.

Appreciate all of the great help!

I don't care what Max says about you guys....you're all OK with me.

Glad you decided on a place, there are about 20 responses on the hunting forum. All the ones guys here also recommend are among them as well. Good luck with your bow. I know I find it relaxing to come home and shoot in the backyard during the week.
