Just bought a Baby Eagle

Recommended Posts

Mostly impulse buy, but man it's sweet. Feels very well made and solid. It's a polymer framed 9mm 15+1 and came with 3 extra mags, 5 in total(lighly used gun, less than 100rds apparently). It's definitely more accurate than I am.

While shooting I noticed it has hardly enough cyclic motion to chamber a round, which is both good and bad. Reduces the amount of cyclic recoil, both also makes shooting one handed a little more difficult if you don't practice that enough. It stayed very flat for me, with almost no muzzle rise.

The trigger is a SA/DA and super smooth on both sides of it. DA has a long heavy pull as expected and SA is a really short, maybe 3.5lb break. Very consistent. Pulling back the hammer is very tight and I actually slipped off of it a couple times if I wasn't careful. It's not a large, or small, hammer to hold on to.

Another thing I noticed was the slide lock / takedown lever, while it looks big, was just barely in reach of my thumb and took some twisting of my grip to manipulate it as a slide release. Just for reference, I can almost touch my trigger on my G17 with my thumb. After just a few times of trying, I quickly adjusted to using my support hand, wrapping over the slide above the trigger and squeezing a bit, then returning to my grip as usual. This is how I also manipulate my glocks. I find it keeps my hands closer together and in my "workspace" while allowing me to get my hands in place faster.

All in all, this may be my new favorite handgun...for the moment.

Now for the picture...

Congratulations I am "hella jelly" bro- something I have always wanted.

In fact since I was a kid I've wanted a Desert Eagle but I just couldn't do it... and then I decided the Baby Eagle in .40 S&W ... could never decide.. I would go back and forth with the .357 Mag D-Eagle, sometimes I'd want a .44 Mag D-Eagle (I really wanted a .44 D-Eagle when I was in college lol.)... then I'd go back to Baby in .40 etc.   Then I convince myself into saying, if I am going this route, I just am going to go w/ a Glock in 10mm.

ANYWAY, Congratulations, looks like a great get you got there... good luck good shootin stay safe.

You're prob aware they are built on the CZ 75 platform. Have heard good things about them. Mostly that they are very accurate. Congrats and enjoy!

Yes I'm aware. I was actually going back and forth with a 75B and took the Eagle over it. TO ME, it just felt better. A little lighter, and a little more balanced...also I'm responding to your pm now.

Sold plenty of them and have not heard back from anyone who was unhappy with the purchase.

I'm just trying to find a good holster for it now. Looks like blade tech is the only company that has it listed so far. I would love a nice kydex owb.

To anyone that reads this...if you want to have a reeealllyyy bad day, take your trigger sear apart. I'm a very competent, very mechanical, hands on guy, and it took 3 hands and some custom made tools to get the sear spring back in. No matter what you think you can handle, don't test this one.

These are such well put together guns. I also have an all steel .40. I bought it quite a few years ago now and havent regretted my purchase once. It was the first pistol i ever bought. Love going to the range with it. Thought about getting a holster for it, but whats the point in jersey anyway. It's too heavy to carry anyway. Carried it at my business once during sandy aftermath as i had about 20 generators for sale. Gun weighs a ton!

I have the poly model, and I will be making a holster for it myself so that I can use it for IDPA. I actually just ordered the kydex to do it.
