handgun permit delayed

i put in the paper work for 2 handgun permits in early June, when i checked up on them earlier this week they told me that they never heard back from one of my references, (my neighbor, she never received anything in the mail). I was there on Monday and asked if they could send it again, its now Thursday and she still hasn't received anything. I was told that if everything gets sorted out that i might have the permits by mid sept - early oct

 

this seems like a VERY unreasonable amount of time and i'm not sure what i can do. It seems like they are purposely dragging their feet and loosing documents

im going to call tomorrow and ask if i can hand deliver it and then if that doesn't work ill ask to speak to a supervisor and see where that gets me

Hell I'd follow up very politely. Ask who is in charge of the apps. Talk with them. If it sounds reasonable ok then. If not ask more questions. Maybe ask if they need any more info or help expediting it. Play dumb with them. Other than that. You just gotta wait.

Check with the chief first, its probably just sitting on someones desk...
