checko 180 Posted August 1, 2014 Ugh. Just checked the weather for WV during my class this weekend. Rain. All day. Both days. I know I'm gonna get wet, there's no avoiding that but maybe someone has a good life hack to share. Any last minute tips as I'm leaving at 11 am tomorrow? High Exposure 5,662 Posted August 1, 2014 Suck it up Seriously just accept it and enjoy it. Think of all the rest of us suckers that aren't getting to train with Pat - rain or no. Bring a towel to keep your hands and optics clean and dry. Let your gear dry as much as possible overnight - disassemble your ear pro. Bring something good to eat for lunch, something to look forward to. Bring a few pairs of dry socks to change into. Avoid cotton clothes if possible - they take forever to dry. Bring a change of clothes for the 45 minute drive back to the hotel.

MidwestPX 172 Posted August 1, 2014 I tell myself only sugar and shit melt in the rain. Make ready and train through it.

I don't care about me, I know im gonna be soaked. Hate being in wet feet all day though. Bring a towel to keep your hands and optics clean and dry. Yes, thats more like it. I didn't even think of that, duh! Let your gear dry as much as possible overnight - disassemble your ear pro. I guess I can lay it out in front of the AC in the hotel or something. I'm gonna be using my surefire ear pro. My Leight's are F'd and the active hearing doesnt work anyway. Bring something good to eat for lunch, something to look forward to. I need to grab some stuff when I get to Winchester tomorrow. Bring a few pairs of dry socks to change into. Packed extra just now. Avoid cotton clothes if possible - they take forever to dry. I have a combat shirt, and that BOSS Rugby shirt. I'm not too worried about that. Bring a change of clothes for the 45 minute drive back to the hotel. Got it. checko 180 Posted August 1, 2014 I tell myself only sugar and shit melt in the rain. Make ready and train through it. Lol like I said, I don't care about my person so much. Thinking more along the lines for keeping my gear up and running.

GRIZ 3,369 Posted August 1, 2014 Pack some WD40. Displacing water is what it was designed for. Clean it off later with some Gunscrubber. Goretex boots would keep your feet dry unless you step in deep puddles.
T Bill 649 Posted August 1, 2014 Talk to anyone who has served in the military........ "If it ain't raining, it ain't training". Cotton is not your friend. Gortex is.

Sandy 44 Posted August 1, 2014 Just don't bring a Star Ledger umbrella. My husband brought one to a rainy match and things broke bad....
acaixguard 37 Posted August 3, 2014 I've been rained on in class. Make sure your weapon is well lubed. Some people in a class I took had their guns start choking on them because the rain washed away the little lube they had in their guns. See if you can pick up a rainproof windbreaker with a hood before you head down. Do you have any stippling or other grip enhancement on your pistol? If so, you'll really appreciate it. If not, just be mindful not to lose grip on your gun if it's wet.
checko 180 Posted August 3, 2014 I'm already here. TD1 was bright and sunny in the morning and a little overcast in the afternoon. Tomorrow its a 50% chance of thunderstorms. I got plenty of lube and we'll just push on.
