Picking out my next pistol

Recommended Posts

These seem like very random choices. Good question above...what do you want out of your next purchase.

That said, amongst what you listed, I would forget the P227 and the Mustang. SIG quality is not what it once was, and there really is no purpose for a DA/SA hammer fired pistol today. Also, the .380 is a purposeless round.

Here is my pistol collection right now

Beretta nano 9mm

Sig sauer p226 mk25 9mm

Sig sauer p229 .40

Steyr m40-a1

Steyr m40

Colt rail gun .45

Taurus pt-145 millennium .45

Kahr p380 .380

On order

Smith and Wesson .44 mag revolver

The Glock 10mm fills my need of needing a Glock and a 10mm.

The colt 380 first edition I'd probably put away as an investment

The colt commander I'd treat as an investment I used

The 227 would replace my 229 and a home defense choice

I have owned many different 10mm handguns, in many styles (sa revolver, sa/da revolver, s&w semi auto, dan wesson 1911) and i am convinced that the Glock 20 is the best of the bunch until you get to big $$$ longslide 1911's like the STI Perfect 10. The heavy slide and polymer frame do the best job of soaking up the recoil.

And if you don't roll your own ammo, look at Underwood Ammo to experience the full power of the cartridge.
