My Alessi CQC-S Holster

Recommended Posts

Mea culpa if you see this on the Sig forum.

Just received my first really fine holster, an Alessi CQC-S.  I am finally moving  to Florida from NJ.  Got my concealed carry permit and want some really good gear.  I had the basic plastic roto holster from Sig but it was just OK.  After looking online it looks like Alessi has been proudly making  awesome holsters for about 40 years in Buffalo, NY in the USA.  (www. alessigunholsters.com. Email [email protected] and phone 716-932-7497)

Tom the owner and associate spent a lot of time to helping me. I was not just a one time sale for them.  They made a customer for life.  They talked me out of spending on some stuff and figure out what I really needed.  For example save by using my holster for a P220, 229 and 226. Ditto for mag pouches.  Tom is a sheriff and NRA instructor and knows his stuff.

Workmanship is first class.  My holster has sharkskin trim and Buffalo nickel military grade snaps.  I couldn't get the snaps closed at first but called late Friday and Tom explained  these are actually military snaps designed to prevent your holster from getting yanked off in case of a scuffle.  They are used for police applications.  The pistol fits like a glove, is comfortable and the cant is right on.

I have an order in for more holsters since it takes a few months to get yours made.  Work is custom made and quality takes time.

Just wish he could ship me some real Buffalo wings.  I went to school there and ours don't compare.

Can't go wrong with the CQC-S. I've moved more towards kydex but the CQC-S is one of the three leather holsters I will keep.

I knew Lou Alessi when he was still alive and well, and he was not only a first rate holster maker, but also a first class gentleman in every way. Glad to see that his company is still going strong today.

How close to the body does the CQC-S keep the gun compared to kydex holsters like the Raven?

The CQC-S is probably a hair closer than a Raven with the standard loops. It also rides a tad lower too (which I personally prefer). All my RCS holsters are fitted with their drop loop option, which is not shown on their site but can be requested. I do not like high riding holsters.
