custom rem 870 handguard on ak

duracoat is finally dry, heres my latest mod, magpul REM 870 handguard on my saiga 7.62x39. the idea is not original, but I put my own spin on it. still undecided on an optic, I had a 1-6x variable on it but decided I don't need a magnified optic on this gun. I'm leaning towards the vortex strikefire II. the finish is duracoat rattle can in magpul olive drab for the handguard and half of the ergo stock, and the rest is duracoat rattle can in REM 870 black.

The rear is attached to the original saga hole on the receiver using a piece of aluminum bar stock which I then tapped/threaded

 

The front is attached using a barrel mount from Carolina shooting supply like so

 

Its a rock solid two point attachment

I am hoping to get my hands on a Saiga eventually. I am debating between a .223 and 7.62x39 and waiting for panic prices to come down to ~$500 before I purchase.

 

I like this mod a lot and may go this way when I convert.

thanks man, good luck with your purchase. its certainly going to be interesting to see how this kalashnikov concern drama plays out, unfortunately I don't see a 500 dollar saiga on the very near future

I am patient. Eventually folks will realize that they have a few too many AKs and need to offload. A lot like what is happening now with the ARs. If it happens it happens, if not..... Meh.... It's a want, not a need.
