tommyfeds 2 Posted August 18, 2014 So I went into Howell Gun Works on Saturday to see if they had received any more Zastava o-paps in stock....they didn't. But they did have an I.O. Inc AK variant on the rack. Bit more money but apparently has a chrome lined barrel. Not that I feel I need one but seems to justify some of the extra cost. That and they are made in the great Mickey state of FL! Came with 3 pinned mags and a hard case too! Need to pick out a side rail mount as I plan on repurposing my strike fire red dot. I dont feel like spending over 100 bucks though....anyone have a suggestion? Put about 50 rounds down yesterday and it sure is fun! Anyone else have an IO? ogfarmer 138 Posted August 18, 2014 make sure to check to see if you sites canted, or barrels off. Also make sure your crown is smooth. I read today about some that are shooting off due to shotty work.
tommyfeds 2 Posted August 18, 2014 Hmmm....there's a pinned brake on there. I'll have to give a closer look? Sights though look pretty straight. I did get on paper at CJRP but I have to make a proper target holder. My leftover cardboard on a stick from ft dix kept getting blown over :-/ Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
carl_g 568 Posted August 18, 2014 Nice looking rifle you got there!
tuktuk 16 Posted August 18, 2014 I had an IO Russian style rifle. NJSP made me return it To this day I don't know why....
Old Glock guy 1,127 Posted August 19, 2014 Looks really nice! Good luck with it. I have a stock Saiga that's OK, but I think I'm going to need to do a conversion to get it to look more like that. (Plus I'm going to have to spend some time figuring out how to hit anything with it.)
tommyfeds 2 Posted August 19, 2014 Thanks! NJSP made you return it? How did that go? I'll have to check the roll marks on mine. I don't think it says AK anywhere. I think it's marked "sporter" Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
edwill86 0 Posted August 19, 2014 Check out https://kalinkaoptics.com I have a bp-02 side rail with a stryke fire on my converted saiga.
SJG 253 Posted August 19, 2014 Their website says they do not sell to NJ because they are non compliant with a bayo lug and threaded brake. Hopefully your FFL removed the lug and pinned the brake. Not clear if it says AK on the receiver. If it does, that is a problem. At one time IO's AK's did and that is why the State Police confiscated some that were purchased in NJ. Hopefully they got rid of that marking
tommyfeds 2 Posted August 19, 2014 They look nice and not a fortune. Thanks for the link. I'm not sure how to choose. I want centered and low but I'm not sure if I need AK to weaver or svd.... Do you know which one you have? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
edwill86 0 Posted August 19, 2014 This is the exact one I have : http://kalinkaoptics.com/mounts/original-bp-02-ak-saiga-vepr-low-profile-centered-side-mount-to-weaver-rail-w-black-finish.html Low profile, centered. I didn't get the TAC side rail because I didn't know what I'd use it for. If you get the bp-02 u will need to fix the locking lever. It comes super loose but is really really easy to fix. There are a few write ups and videos around. That's how I did mine. I'd assume if howle gun works SolD the rifle in NJ its legal. Its a good starter AK. Have fun shooting it! If you have any questions let us know! Also akfiles has a lot of info as well.
