Sell682 1 Posted August 19, 2014 I was wondering where is best to pin a STR stock? I hate to pin through the storage compartment. Let me know what works best .
checko 180 Posted August 19, 2014 Why dont you want to pin it there? It wont affect storage and will be hidden. If you really dont want to try to pin the friction lock.
checko 180 Posted August 19, 2014 btw I'm talking about pinning it under the rubber stopper piece.
Lalo 13 Posted August 19, 2014 This is not how I pin mine, but it's how most people do it.
Sell682 1 Posted August 19, 2014 Thanks for the replys... Lalo how you pin yours ?
bhunted 887 Posted August 19, 2014 If you take the storage cover off, you can actually get under the release and hide it completely under it. Won't show at all. I did mine that way.
remixer 1,645 Posted August 19, 2014 This is not how I pin mine, but it's how most people do it. We have pinned it in that location and under the storage rubber. It is easier to repin if you just pin the lock as in the photo.
bhunted 887 Posted August 19, 2014 I'll see if I have time later where I'll dismantle mine and take a snap shot. Not hard to do.....

bhunted 887 Posted August 19, 2014 As always, do at your own risk... This is only advice how I do these particular stocks. First remove 2 torx screws from pad. Then remove plug. You'll see a rivet right by QD hole.Get a small drill bit slightly larger than center of rivet. Just drill down easily and it will cut into rivet just enough for head of it to fall off. Pop out of other side if you can't pull it out with fine needle nose. You do not need this rivet because once you put pad back on, it locks everything in place. It will not move. Squeeze adjustment lever and lock lever will pop. You'll be drilling right behind that. Adjust where you want stock. Then drill a hole right where you see me point through that little plate and part way through tube. (Blind pinned). Tap roll pin in easily and till flush. (Try put something behind that section to support it). Do not make hole bigger than roll pin. Put everything back together after testing. Once together, you will not be able to adjust stock and everything will be hidden. If you mess up, get some JB Weld. You can seal hole in tube and plate but it has to dry. Then start over. If need be, do on other side of stock. Just don't drill into exact same lcation. Also, if you find you over did it with rivet and it does't seem tight, smooth a little JB over it or get one size larger rivet. Let it dry then re-assemble. Hope this helps. 5th4x4 0 Posted August 21, 2014 Where it's pinned means nothing..... as long as the LEO who develops a curiosity about your otherwise collapsable stock comes to the conclusion that your stock is not collapsable and therefore complies with NJ State Law. That's the only thing that matters. The more hidden it is, the more scrutiny your rifle gets. So who cares if anyone can see the edge of a little 1/8 pin or not. These are rifles, not poodles in dog shows.
