fishnut 2,358 Posted August 29, 2014 Anyone interested in hitting up a party boat tomorrow afternoon out of the Atlantic highlands municipal marina? The wife and I are going to jump on a boat in the afternoon and I always try to get as many people to go as possible so we can take over a whole section. Id rather stand shoulder to shoulder and tangle lines with someone I know(or kinda know) than a complete stranger. FYI I have been hearing that they have been catching some doormats, I heard of a 30" 9LB fluke that was caught the end of last week! Let me know if anyone is intrested
ogfarmer 138 Posted August 29, 2014 my sister, niece and brother in law, tried to go this morning but Capt turned boat around 15 min into leaving the harbor, said it was too rough. Hope things are calmer for you tomorrow.

Sandy 44 Posted August 29, 2014 Maaaan , the Dauntless had everybody capping out on Sea Bass yesterday , and Fluke. Some Ling too. If I was not doing something else tomorrow...But , in the future I was thinking of getting a Pro 2A crowd on The Purple Jet and going for Tuna in the fall. fishnut 2,358 Posted August 29, 2014 In NJ I have been out on the tuna hunter before. I had a great time and at the time the crew were to notch but it was a few years ago and charter crews have a pretty high turn over rate. Ill ask around and see if I can get any recommendations. I have heard good things about the purple jet but I don't have any personal experience with the boat.
Sandy 44 Posted August 29, 2014 The crew is great . I recommend them. Been out about 15 times or so . We went for shark once and had a blast. Could not move my arms for a week though They will also hit the Gulf Stream where you can get King Fish and trops like that.
ogfarmer 138 Posted August 29, 2014 I saw a few guys on nj hunter who run charters
fishnut 2,358 Posted August 29, 2014 Yeah fishing the gulf stream is a blast up here, catching cold water and tropical species all in one day cant get any better.
fishnut 2,358 Posted August 30, 2014 well all in all not a terrible day. we only caught 4 shorts and a buzz. boat was not packed and a few nice fish came over the rail. 27" was the pool winner. I enjoy just getting out on the water for a few hours and it was a bonus to catch a few even if they were not keepers. man one was close though lass than 3/4" short, oh well next year it will be a keeper. Sandy 44 Posted August 31, 2014 Riptide and rough seas were rolling in as I was leaving Thursday... might have dampened the catch rates.Again , looking to do a fall trip , will post in events
