dman2112 6 Posted August 30, 2014 Hi all I need help for an optic for my new Browning Xbolt in 30-06 Primary purpose for this rifle will be hunting large game inside 300 yards. Hand loading for it heavy. 180-200gr This means I will be doing a lot of range development on the loads I use for it. Range access is 100 - 300 yards. Zoom range needed is the 3-9x range. I'm getting older so my eyesight sucks. As a result I have grown accustomed to either scopes with side focus or front focus. I am a Leupold fan for the glass quality, but I feel their reticle are too thick and the choices king of suck. I moved from MOA to MRAD several years ago and haven't looked back. I like metric. Illuminated preferred but not necessary. I like to hold over for a hunting rifle rather than use dials. Any thoughts ? (Here come the SWFA fans) :-)
Displaced Texan 11,748 Posted August 31, 2014 Vortex makes optics that meet your requirements. I'm looking at their stuff for my Colt 901 7.62.

(Here come the SWFA fans) :-) Bushnell Vortex SWFA (yep, I'm a fan of their stuff!) I'd look at offerings from all three as they all offer quite a bit of value. Bushnell is probably the most surprising of the three since they seem to have stepped up their game lately. I had a customer come in today look through my 1-8.5 on my SPR and thought it was a Leupold based on glass clarity. He had no idea it was a Bushnell that costs about half of a Leupold Mk8 and was floored when I told him.
