Hornady or Lee

Recommended Posts

Hello all Iam gearing up to load 300 BLK. I ve just got done processing about 1000 rounds of brass. So now iam set to reload... In the market for a new progressive press Iam stuck between a Hornady Lock and Load AP and a Lee Loadmaster.... Ive always had good luck with me Lee stuff but I lime the fact that I can upgrade the Hornady with a case feeder ad bullet feeder when I choose. Plus the Hornady looms a little beefer for loading rifle ammo.... any one give me pros and cons? You guys loading for the Blackout using one of these presses let me know what you like and are you happy with your choice... also where can i get some Hogdon H110..... thanks...

I use Hornady equipment for my progressive reloading.  LNL is a good press.  Has is quirks, just as all presses do.  I use a case feeder system for all brass, but a home made bullet feeder for handgun loads.  Rifle heads are set by hand. There is a comparison done by someone on the plus and minus of the three major progressive presses.  I'll attach it here when I find it.  It's a good read.  Major Pistol shooter extoll the qualities of the Dillon 850.  I have no experience with that press. Started with a Hornady Projector over 25 years ago and it still is running today. Added the LNL 2 years ago and it is going great.  I use a RCBS Rockchucker for single state loading that I picked up at a yard sale years ago.  Works great for small batches of things, and a MEC for shotgun shells.

I have a Hornady LNL and love it. Hornady has excellent customer service, Lee is terrible with customer service.

Dunno, I have gotten better service from lee than hornady. Hornady has not done well by me over the years.

That being said, lee's progressive stuff is just a path I wouldn't go down. Prior to the advent of YouTube, and the hive mind of people deeply determined to prove you can make them work reliably, they were tantamount to flipping a coin and throwing your money away if it came up heads.

Wow seems like is a Dillon or Hornady..... would the Dillon 650 xl be the equivient to the Hornady LnL? Thanks all for your great input I agree about the Lee I had tbe pro 1000 and it was a little tempermental but once it was dialed in it pumped out some great rounds albet only 9mm and 45 acp no rifle.... found the LnL for under 400.00 at Midsouth reloading supply but their out of stock.... anyone deal with them? I contacted Garden State in Warren said they could order one. I will call them tomorrow to see if they have H110 everyone else seems to be out of stock with no availble time of restocking... anyone deal with the guy up in Easton PA. Iam not sure of the name but he runs the shop out of a garage next to his house....u

T&T Reloading on Sullivan Trail Across from the Church before Stockertown.  But you have to go there.  Tony is Tony.  If you know him, you'll know what I am saying.  Does Sarco have any on the shelf?  Remember W296 is the same thing.

I have a hornady LNL and a dillon 650 right next to each other -- there is no difference in quality between the 2 -- they each have their pluses and minuses but one is not better than the other

Get the press you want -  I personally would run the LNL for .223/300 black over the Dillon 650 -- now you go dillon 1050 and its a whole new game

If you want to see each press set up and running side by side PM me -- we are close

The Lee turret classic is solid but if I was going to get a progressive press it would be either Dillon or Hornady.

^^^^ This ^^^^  I have the Lee Classic turret press and it works great... but if I had to go progressive, I'd go with Dillon or Hornady.
