DTtuner 21 Posted September 3, 2014 Wondering if anyone has some tips or feedback on this rifle. I'm considering purchasing it from a vendor who has this on consignment. They are asking $875. I know nothing about lever-action guns. Don't have the serial number yet. Let me know what you all think of the below, and whether it's worth the asking price. ** Will upload more pics shortly. T Bill 649 Posted September 3, 2014 Made from 1983 on I believe. More than likely from the nineties, was a big push selling them then. Wood looks good. For me $875 is way up there in price. I, myself, would pass on this one. A Henry Big Boy in the same caliber lists for $900 and is a much nicer rifle.

DTtuner 21 Posted September 3, 2014 Unfortunately, I don't have pre-64 money to spend. Why would you pass? Just the price? If so, what would you offer on this rifle?
Parker 213 Posted September 3, 2014 The price may be a tad high for a Trapper Saddle Ring Carbine that's missing its saddle ring. But the price is close to what I've seen others go for lately. It's a pity they stopped drilling and tapping the receiver for side-mount peep sights sometime in the 80's. (This carbine just begs for one.) These are fun guns to shoot. My friend has the same model in .44 Mag.
W2MC 1,699 Posted September 3, 2014 The Cowboy Action group loves this rifle....hence the astronomical price. Judging by the "Cutout" button safety, it's on the newer-side (late 80's forward)...I forget exactly when this safety first debued, but it should actually drive DOWN the price. Essentially, the seller is high, but not THAT high...
Parker 213 Posted September 3, 2014 Crossbolt safety was added in 1992.
