Chewed Up Charging Handle

Recommended Posts

i still dont see how metal got inside the upper from the latch... id disassemble your upper and degrease it and look for other wear spots or signs of carrier tilt. the metal inside has me more worried than the latch.

or you could just do as HE says and carry on because you have an unstoppable piston AR and it never needs service or lube and will run forever...

personally id go with option 1 then sell it and buy an BCM upper.

Before spending money on a fancy new CH, swap out one of your existing milspec CH from another rifle and fire a few rounds. That wear is definitely abnormal. It's as if something with the reciprocating action is forcing the CH too far forward. I find it really hard to see how shavings for that external piece if the CH got inside your upper. Check for other areas inside the upper or BCG that are showing areas or abnormal wear.

Thank you for some sanity!!!

Welcome to the world of deductive reasoning.

You can't guess problems away. Inspection and deduction is how you fix things.

I don't know what crawled in your ass and died but did you read the rest of the thread?

I see plenty of qualifying questions by several members (none of which were YOU) before you added not the least bit to the OP's issue.
